County, Oregon, in the City of

will be submitted to the legal
voters thereof the question of con
tracting a bonded indebtedness in
the sum of Two Hundred Thirty
Five Thousand Dollars ($235,000.
00) for the purpose of providing
funds wilh which to construct,
equip, erect and furnish a school
building in and for said District,
and to acquire all property, real
and personal, appurtenant there
to or connected therewith.
The vole to be by ballot upon
which shall he the words "Bonds
Yes" and "Bonds No": and the
voters shall place a cross (X) be
tween the words "Bonds" and the
word "Yes", or between the words
"Bonds" and the word "No",
which ever indicates his choice.
The polls for the reception of
the ballots cast for or against the
contraction of said indebtedness
will, on said day and date and at
the place aforesaid, be opened
at the hour of two o'clock P. M.,
Pacific Standard Time, and re
main open until the hour of eight
o'clock P. M., Pacific Standard
Time, of the same day, when the
same shall be closed.

Thursday, May 15th, 1952 at
City Hall in said school

$115,191.60 and the total to be
raised by tax is $122,906.00.
The amount of tax, in excess of
the 67c limitation, proposed to be
levied for. said fiscal year is
$307,714.40.

election will be held Thursday,
May 15th, 1952, by the Rural
School District of Morrow County,
State of Oregon, in all component
school districts of said Rural
School District.
The election will be held be
tween the hours of 2 P. M. and
8 P. M.,and will be in the school-
house or place designated by
local board in each of said com
ponent districts. The purpose of
the election is to submit to the
legal voters of the rural school
district the question of Increasing
the tax levy for the fiscal year
beginning July 1, 1952, over the
amount limited by Section 11,
Article XI of the Constitution.

The Juniors and Seniors of the
lone High school held their ban
quet and prom Friday evening
April 25. During the banquet
Donald Bristow, Junior Class
President, gave the welcome
speech; Mary Jepsen, the re
sponse; Leslie Grant, County
school superintendent, gave the
after dinner speech; Leeta Linn,
the will; Dennis Swanson played
a trumpet solo; Elsie Bauernfeind
gave the class prophecy; Henry
Osibov, superintendent of schools,
gave the address; and Mrs. Paul
Pettyjohn sang a solo. The tables
were decorated in the Mexican
theme with red roses and white
carnations. The menu consisted
of espanol (cocktail), pavo asada
(roast turkey), pure de papa con
salsa (Mashed potatoes and
gravy), batate (sweet potatoes),
arandano (cranberries), mazi
(corn), ensalada (salad), panecil
lo (hot rolls), encvurtido (pick
les), , leche (milk), cafe
(coffee), and pastel con helado
(cake ala mode). The P-TA served
the food and the sophomores
waited on the tables,
The theme of the gym was An
Eve In Mexico. It was decorated
with Mexican hats, jugs, trees,
needle work and other articles
of Mexico. The ceiling was blue
and the walls gold. The stage
was decorated as a hacienda and
was very effective with different
lights. Many Mexican paintings
were on the walls. A Pendleton
orchestra played. Grace McCabe
and Kay Sherer served the punch.

feind, Wilma Dalzell, Leeta Linn,
Mary Jepsen, Donald Eubanks
and LeRoy Brenner. Miss Wilma

Gives Fund Report
A total of $1,452.16 will remain
in Morrow County for Red Cross
use during the coming year, Jack
Bailey, chairman, reported at a
meeting of the Morrow County
chapter held here Wednesday
night. This is 59.5 per cent of the
$2,440.16 total collected in the
county during the 1952 fund cam
paign. During the past six months
$250 was allocated to the Morrow
County TB ward at the Veteran's

of Morrow County did not expect the Hospital to repay
from operating funds, the cost of the original building
and equipment; however, the report contains a de
preciation charge of $11,087.61 which is amortizing the
cost of the building and equipment. If this were ex
eluded from' the charges as shown by the report the
Hospital would have shown an operating profit of $1,-'
870.PS which includes the amount received from the
County Court of $11,500.00, or an actual operating loss of
$6,629.02, which is considerable less than the estimated
loss of $12,000.00 per year as set up by the County Court
at the time the Hill-Burton funds were secured to as
sist in the construction of said Hospital.
