Churches Hold Watch
Parties Monday
New Year's Watch parties were
held at the First Christian and
Methodist Churches Monday
evening. At the Christian church
the annual business meeting was
held preceding the watch party.
Following this a short program
was presented during which Miss
Marie Soward gave a reading. De
votionals were held just before
midnight with Rev. Earl Soward
as leader. Refreshments were
served by the men of the church.

Mrs. Devine New Year
Supper Hostess
Mrs. Pearl Devine was hostess
for a waffle supper at her home
on Cannon Street New Year's day.
Guests present were Mrs. Clara B.
Gertson, Mrs. Lora Mover, Mrs.
Sadie M. Sigsbee and Mrs. Edna
Turner. Pinochle was enjoyed
following the supper.

Crabtree Funeral

Word was received of the death
of J. E. Crabtree last week at
Salem. Mr Crabtree was a resi
dent here for several years be
fore moving to Salem. Funeral
services were held here Wednes
day. He is survived by his wife
Hattie, one son LeoCrabtree of
Salem and three daughters, Mrs.
Roy Stender of Salem, Mrs. Archie
Munkers of Lexington and Mrs.
Lewis Halvorsen of lone.
Mr. and Mrs.. Frank Barlow of
Martinez, Calif., spent the holi
days at the home of his sister,
Mrs. Cecil Lulkins and his par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Barlow.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hoover
and children of Pendleton spent
Christmas at the home of her
sister, Mrs. E. M. Baker.

Stract of Oakland, Calif., are the
parents of a son born Dec. 28.
