Christmas Party
Planned At lone

The American Legion Auxiliary
met at the home of Mrs. Pete Can
non Tuesday afternoon of last
week with Mrs. John Eubanks as
co-hostess. The unit planned a
Christmas party at their hall on
Dec. 18 with a potluck dinner at
6:30 p. m. They sent $10 to the
Gifts for the Yanks and $5 to the
Children's Christmas cheer. Mrs.
Victor Rietmann, rehabilitation
t chairman reported that $79.95
worth of gifts were sent to the
Gift Shop in the veteran hospital
in Portland. The Unit ordered a
national flag and a unit flag they
were also presented with a rose
wood gavel. The ladies are mak
ing ditty bags for the veteran
hospital.
. A birthday party was held after
the regular meeting of Bunch
Grass Rebekah lodge Thursday
evening of last week. Those hav
ing birthdays were: Mrs. Ernest
Heliker, Mrs. E. R. Lundell, Mrs.
Delia Corson, Mrs. C. W. Swan
son, Mrs. Wallace Matthews, Mrs.
Paul Pettyjohn, Mrs. Merle Baker
Mrs. Pete Cannon and Norton
Lundell. Games were played and
refreshments were served by Mrs.
Harvey Ring, Mrs. W. G-Roberts,
Mrs. Milton Morgan, Mrs. L. A.
McCabe and Mrs. Lloyd Morgan.
The Rebekahs will have their
Christmas Party Dec. 21 with pot
luck dinner at 6:30 p. m.' A do
nation will be given at this time
to the 1. 0. 0. F. home in Portland.

Mr and Mrs. Dale Ray went to
LaGrande ltst week and brought
Mrs. SLena Ray home with them.
Mrs. Ray is now staying at the
home of Mrs. Laura Scott in Lex
ington. Mrs. J. H. Bryson is ill at her
home.
Louis Padberg returned home
from the St. Anthony hospital in
Pendleton Sunday. His daughter,
Mrs. Frank Nichols of Ordnance
is taking care of him.

Mrs. Nichols reported that her
son, Lindsey was taken to the
hospital in Pendleton Sunday for
treatment.

Films were shown and a report
was given on Will Power by Mrs.
Alfred Nelson at a P-TA study
group meeting Dec. 5 at the
school. Mrs. Claud Riley is the
chairman of the group. The
adult group will meet in Janu

Mrs. Wm. Seehafer gave a
birthday party Saturday after
noon in honor of her daughter,
Mildred. . " :
Mr. and Mrs. Willis Willbcks of
Tenn. are visitinjr relatives here.
and plan to leave for California
soon. Mrs. Willocks is a sister-in-
law of Mrs. Mary Emert.
Mrs. Dixon Smith is visiting her
daughter Barbara near Los Ange
les, where she is teaching.
Mrs. Omar Rietmann, assisted
by Mrs. Echo Palmateer, gave a
turkey dinner Tuesday evening
for the city officials: Those pre
sent were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Bry
son, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Brlstow,
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Linn, Mr. and
Mrs. Earl McCabe, Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Pettyjohn, George Ely and
Mayor Omar Rietmann. The
council meeting was held In the
Rietmann home after the dinner.
Carl Linn went to Walla Walla
Monday to have the cast re
moved from his arm. He was ac
companied by Mr. and Mrs. Char
les O'Connor.
Little' Susan Lindstrom spent
one night in the Pioneer Memor
ial hospital last week for treat
ment of an injury caused by fall
ing on a sucker stick and running
it in her mouth.
Mr and Mrs. Eldon Tucker were
Portland visitors last week.
Mrs. Ray Barnett has been In
Seattle with her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon
