A bridal shower was given in
honor of Miss Eunice Peterson at
the Co-operative Church base
ment Saturday afternoon. She re
ceived many lovely and useful
! gifts. Cake, coffee and punch
were served from a table decor
ated with a bowl of flowers. Mrs.
Henry Peterson poured the coffee
and Miss Shlrlee Smouse presid
ed at the punch bowl. The host
esses were Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom,
Mrs. Robert DeSpain, Mrs. Delmer
Crawford, Mrs. Tad Miller, Mrs.
Arthur Stefanl Jr., Mrs. Robert
Hoskins, Mrs. Milton Morgan,
Mrs. Wm, Rawlins and Mrs.
Donald Peterson. Miss Peterson is
the bride elect of Rod Kvistad of
Astoria.
The Three Links Club met at

mick of Oakland, California are
visiting here. She is the mother
of Mrs. Robert Hoskins and the
daughter of Mrs. Addie Salter.
Dr. and Mrs. B. I. Phillips of
Portland, were recent visitors at
the home of his sister Mrs. Claude
Huston.

siting here, he is staying at the

last week in The Dalles where
they visited their son and daugh.

Roseburg were recent visitors at
the home of his brother, Wallace
Matthews.
E. M. Baker received bad burns
on his arm and face last week
from steam from the radiator of
the combine. He took the cap off
the radiator where hot steam
burned him. He went to a phy
sician for treatment.
Three fires were set by the
train near the warehouse at Mor
gan Saturday but were soon put
out by the train crew and men
there at Morgan.
Carl Linn was home Sunday
for a couple of hours from the
Pioneer Memorial hospital in
Heppner. Mrs. Linn came home
last week from Monmouth where
she has been attending summer
school.
Franklin Ely spent the week
end in Portland. He returned with
a new Oldsmobile.
Mr. and Mrs. 0. E. Lindstrom
entertained at a coffee party in
honor-of their son-in-law and
daughter Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Helena of Seattle Wednesday.

Algott Lundell Mr. and Mrs. E.
R. Lundell, M. and Mrs. O. L.
Lundell, Mrs. Roy Lindstrom and

for their home.

and son left last week for their
home in Los Angeles after visit

W. R. Wentworth is home from
Portland where he went for medi
cal treatment.
Mrs. James Barnett is visiting
at the David Barnett home in
Pendleton.
Gene Heliker of The Dalles vi
sited his grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ernest Heliker last week.
Mr. and Mrs. La Verne Hams

left Sunday on a. trip south. Lin
da Hams is staying at the Del
bert Emert home.
Mrs. Lloyd and children Vir
gil and Gerry left Monday for
Portland. She was accompanied
as far as The Dalles by Robert
Drake who spent the week end
with his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Cleo Drake from Fort Lewis.
Louis Hancock of Arlington is
working for W. R. Wentworth. Mr.
Hancock sold his service station
at Arlington recently.

Mrs. Eldon Tucker received
word from her husband-, Sgt.
Tucker who is stationed in Cali
fornia, that he would receive his
honorable discharge Friday and
would be home next week.
A surprise birthday party was
given in honor of Nat Halvorsen,
July 24. He was 85 years old.
Those present were Mrs. John
Eubanks and daughter, Sandra,
Mrs. C. E. Brenner and son Gary,
children, and Mrs. Verla Eu
banks. Mrs. Halvorsen baked
the birthday cake.
Mrs. Beulah Davin and daugh
ter! Sharon, of La Grande are vi
siting at the Paul O'Meara home.
They are on their way to San
Francisco to make their home.
Mrs. Davin is a niece of Mrs. O'
Meara. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Brittsen and
son of Ordnance spent the week
end at the Merle Baker homo.
The families spent Sunday at
Lehman Springs. Mrs. Brittsen
and Mrs. Baker are cousins.
