Sunday Night For
Lexington Class
Baccalaureate services were
hold Sunday night at the Chris
tian church with the Rev. Louis
Wetzel officiating. The program
consisted of the prelude by Betty
Lou Messenger, processional,
hymns by the congregation; song
"in the Garden" by the high
school sextet,; message to the
graduates by Rev. Wetzel, and
song 'My Task" by the sextet;
recessional. The class consists of
David Buchanan, John Edwards,
Patricia Majeske, Alene Shan
non and Pfc Floyd Breeding The
eighth graders are Patricia Mc
Millan, Donna Robinson, Phyllis
Nolan, Nancy Harrah and Larry
Groves. Ushers and receptionists
were Earl Miller and Dorothy
Lowrey.
Mrs. Roy Martin received word
Sunday of the death of her father,
D. Bellenbrock of Monument.
Pfc Floyd Breeding, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Bert Breeding is having
a 10 day furlough at the home
of his parents. While here Floyd
will take part in the graduation
exercises of his class. He is sta
tioned in Louisiana.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wallace
spent the week-end in Woodburn
where they attended the funeral
of his nephew on Saturday.
The Newt O'Harras are visit
ing theic. daughter Mrs. Roy Dar
nielle and famliy in The Dalles.
E. E. McFadden returned to
The Dalles Tuesday for a check
up following his recent illness.
Dr. and Mrs. Anderson of Port
land visited their many friends
in Lexington recently. Mrs. An
derson was formerly Myra John
son. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Mitchell,
nee Grace Cypert, and Mrs. Hurst
of Tacoma and Mrs. Frank E.
Parker of Heppner were visitors
at the Barnett home one day
last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Picker and
son have moved from the O. W.
Cutsforth ranch to the Greenup
place above Heppner.
PTA met Tuesday evening in
the school auditorium. Mrs. Sor
lien, primary teacher presented
an interesting program including
piano solos by Carol Ann Palmer,
Johnnie Wallace and Judy Wih
lon; and a report on the PTA
convention by Mrs. Armin Win
Ion who attended as delegate.
County council of PTA met in
Boardman Wednesday with Mrs.
Armin Wihlon, Mrs. Robert Da
vidson and Mrs. O. G. Breeding
attending.
The Junior-Senior banquet was
served at O'Donnell's cafe Tues
day evening followed by a show.
Mrs. Ina Nichols is keeping the
Bill Nichols children while the
mother and her new daughter,
Linda Louise are getting ac
quainted. Mrs. W. E. McMillan, Mrs. Wm.
Smethurst, Mrs. Annie Keene
and Mrs. A. F. Majeske are in
Klamath Falls this week attend
ing the Rebekah convention.
While there, Mrs. Keene will re
ceive the degree of Chivalry, one
of the highest degrees given.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Griffin of
San Francisco are visiting his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Grif
fin. The Louis Wetzel family have
moved from Heppner to the par

Week-end guests of Mr. and
Mrs. O. G. Crawford were ,Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Penland and son
Meal of Lebanon. It was the first
time the Penlands had been in
this part of the state and they
were well pleased with what they
saw. They found some old ac
quaintances here in the Edwin
Dicks. Mr. Dick and the Penlands
having attended the University
of Oregon at the same time.

SOUND MOTION PICTURE
ON CHURCH PROGRAM
"Reaching From Heaven," an
80-minute sound motion picture,
Christ at the evening service
will be shown at the Church of
Sunday. This film is said to be
"packed with drama, humor and
pathos, and is romantic and ex
citing as well as Christian."
This will close Mr. McKowen's
work as pastor of the church;
next week he plans to return to
Nebraska, which has been ihs
evangelistic headquarters for sev
eral years. He says, "I'm really
sorry to leave Oregon it's a won
derful place to live!"

staged on Rodeo Field Wednes
day, May 16.
