RESOLUTIONS OF RESPECT
In memory of Sister Maud Hay
den: Once again death has sum
moned a sister Rebekah, and the
golden gateway to the Eternal
City has opened to welcome her
to her home; And, Whereas, the
alhvise and merciful master of
the universe has called our be
loved sister home, and she hav
ing been a true and faithful
member of our beloved order,

kah lodge No. 25, I.O.O.F. of
Oregon, in testimony of her loss,
drape its charter in mourning for
30 days, and that we tender to
the family of the deceased sister

Bud Colvin and son of Ritter
were attending to matters of bus
iness in Monument Sunday. They
attended the potluck Mother's
day dinner served by the Wom
en's Presbyterian association.
Flossie Gilman took Josephine
Howell to Dayville where she
took the bus toBend. In Bend
she met her brother and they
drove to Portland to attend funer
al services for their grandmother.
Mr. and Mrs. Miles Gilman and
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Enright were
dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas McLaughlin Sunday eve
ning. Mrs. Chester Brown, Lewis Bat
ty, Joe Elder and Fred Gassner
were called for jury duty last
week at Canyon City.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barnard ac
companied by Leo Flower went
to La Grande Friday where they
were guests of Mr. and "Mrs. John
Simas. Flower visited his wife
and son. Mrs. Flower is a student
at Eastern Oregon college.
Sergeant and Mrs. Robbins
(nee Betty Cork) and children
visited relatives in Monument on
their return from visiting rela
tives in Missouri. Sgt. Robbins is
stationed at McChord Field near
Tacoma. The Robbins' drove a

new car home.
Mr. and Mrs. John Stubblefield
drove to Pendleton Sunday to
meet Mrs. Stubblefield's brother
who flew from San Francisco to
a five-day leave with his sister
and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Musgrave
and Tommy Cork of Mt. Vernon
visited Mr. and Mrs. Eho Bleak
man and family last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Saddler
have moved to John Day where
he has employment in the box
factory.
Orval Johnson is staying at the
Stanley Musgrave place and is
caring for the stock while the
Muisgraves are in The Dalles with
thir small son, Johnnie.
Mrs. Josie Stirritt of Dayville
and her sister, Mrs. Ruth Hale,
came to the Morgan ranch for a
pig. They were dinner guests of
Mrs. Grace Stirritt and Mrs. Lola
Shank. ,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Page are
home again after spending the
winter in Canada. They have as
their guests Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Owens of Canada. The Owens are
on their honeymoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Foree of
Kimberly were in Monument
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Storms
of Portland arrived at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Strecker Sat
urday and stayed until Tuesday.
Mrs. Stormes and Mrs. Strecker
are sisters. They all attended the
Mother's day dinner and program
in the grange hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barnard had
i their guest on Wednesday,
Mrs. Anna Bayless of Heppner.
Mrs. Bayless returned to Heppner
with Criss Hamilton, Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Batty and
Mrs. McDaniels drove to Heppner
to attend the funeral of Mrs.
Maud Hayden.
Mr. and Mrs. Chet Brown at
tended a family reunion of the
Brown family at Lebanon May 6.
Hits parents had all 13 of their
children there besides most of
their grandchildren and great
grandchildren. The crowd was so
large it was necessary to rent a
hall to serve the dinner.
Mr. and Mrs. Henderson of Sis
ters were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Chet Brown at the guard station
this week. Henderson is district
fire warden of this area
C. A. Brown and Aubrey Crum
attended a forestry meeting at
Prineville this week. Ususally
the women are required to attend
these meetings but this year they
were left at home.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Capon
drove to Fossil one day last week
to get some seat covers for their
car.
Anna Lesley spent last week
visiting in Long Creek and Pen
dleton. Rho Bleakman drove to the
Hynd ranch at Cecil last Friday
to meet Stanley Musgrave who
brought Bleakman's car that far.
Bleakman took Musgrave's car
to him.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Weise and
family of Milton sprnt Mother's
day with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Lee Fleming. Shirley May
Fleming who has been visiting
her sister for sometime, returned
home with them.
The potluck Mother's day din
ner served Sunday in the grange
hall by the Women's Presbyter
i an association was a huge suc
cess. Seventy-five plates were
served. Mrs. Georgia Capon was
presented a carnation as the old
est mother present and Mrs. Betty
Simas as the youngest. Speaker
of the day was Rev. Sidney E.
Harris. After dinner a short pro
gram was presented by the chil
dren. Carol Sweek dedicated her
piano solo to Rev. and Mrs. Har
ris.
Word was received Wednesday
morning by Mr. and Mrs Wayne
Leathers that their daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ab
Gates of Amboy, Wn. were the
parents of a baby girl, Sherryl
Luwain. This is the Leathers' first
grandchild and the first great
grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Mor
ton Cupper.
Friends in Monument read the
notice of the death of Nellie Wil
kins, wife of Victor Wilklns.. Tt
was thought death was caused by
heart failure. Mr. and Mrs. Wil
kins were well known in this
community.
Mrs. Rho Bleakman took her
small daughter, Laura Lee. to
consult a doctor in John Day. She
was suffering from an infected
throat and had to remain near
her doctor for several days.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sweek havp
moved from the Holmes apart
ment to their new home in West
Monument. Mr. and Mns. Delbert
Stubblei'leld have moved into
the vacated apartment.
Mrs. Pauline Sweek and Mrs.
Mary Pounders were called to
the bedside of their father at Bre
merton, Wn. He passed awav
soon after they reached him. Fn
neral services were held Monday
RESOLUTIONS OF RESPECT
Whereas, it has pleased Al
mighty God, the Supreme Ruler
of the Universe, to again visit
our lodge and remove the name
of Brother Glenn Farrens from
our register and take our brother
from our midst to his eternal
home, and
Whereas, while we bow in rev
erent submission to the will of
Him that doeth all things well,
yet we do not the less deplore
the loss of our brother .
To the sorrowful widow and
family the members of Mistletoe
Rebekah lodge No. 25 of Hard
man, Oregon, extend their deep
est sympathy in this their hour
of grief.
Be it Resolved, that a copy of
these resolutions be spread upon
the records of the lodge, a copy
sent to the family and a copy
given to the Gazette Times for
publication.
