Mayor Dorothy McCullough Lee Joined in congratulating Governor McKay on the excellent job done by the hundreds of Keep Oregon Green county committee members and the citizens of Oregon in preventing man-caused forest fires. BUILDING Roy Quackenbush, proprietor of the Heppner Red & White, is preparing to spend the Thanks giving week-end moving his gro cery stock from the Van Horn building to the room formerly occupied by -the Columbia Basin Electric Cooperative in the Odd fellows building. Workmen have been busy the past week redec orating the room, removing par titions and otherwise preparing it for the new tenant. The new location is the site formerly occupied by the grocery operated by Mr. and Mrs. Han son Hughes. Since the Hughes' closed out their business it has housed the Heppner Flower Shop and the CBEC. For a short time prior to its occupancy by the flower shop it was used as a Red Cross sewing room. Harry Van Horn, owner of the building now occupied by the Red & White, has not indicated what he expects to put in there. o TWO-DAY UPHOLSTERY WORKSHOP SCHEDULED A two day workshop, December 7 and 8, will be conducted by Maud C. Casswell on making of a footstool. The meetings will be held in the Heppner Church of Christ and will start at 10 a. m. each day. The purpose of this school, Mrs. Casswell exlains, is to teach el ementary techniques in uphojst- ery. Anyone wishing to qualify ior the upholstery school in Feb ruary should attend the footstool meetings, she says. For details concerning the workshop, call the county agent's office in Heppner.
