Sheriff and Mrs. C J. D. Bau
man motored to Portland Sunday.
Seven members of the local
Girl Scout Troon left Mnndav for
a two week's summer camp at
Wind Mountain near Stevenson,
Wash. Making the trip were Ad
elia and Nancy Anderson, Diane
Van Horn, Sally Cohn. Judv
Thompson, Meredith Thomson
and Darlene Connor. They were
taken to the camp by Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Cohn and Steven
Thompson.
Ervin Anderson ana Airs. Aie
na Anderson made a business
trip to Portland Tuesday.
Mrs. Ida Grimes returned Fri
day from a week"s stay in Port
land with her dauemer, Mrs. Lan
Leathers.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Case of
Clatskanie were here over the
week-end to visit his father, M.
L. Case.
G. E. Ingrum and Wayne Pa
pineau motored to Pendleton Sat.
urday.
Mrs. Dora Reed of Spray was
a week-end guest of her sisters,
Mrs. Sophronia Thompson and
Mrs. Lennie Douden.
Mrs. Marvin R. Wightman,
Peggy and Marvin, Jr. left Fri
day evening for Portland to at
tend the wedding of her nephew,
Robert-Lauer Saturday evening.
Mr. Wightman, Janet and Jimmie
preceded them to the city sever
al days earlier. They returned
home Sunday evening except
Mrs. Wightman who remained a
few days to attend buyers mar
ket. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Doolittle
and young son, Dennis Paul,
were here from Portland for a
week-end visit with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Doolittle.
J. D. Weed, Condon attorney,
was a business visitor in Hepp
ner Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Parker,
Mrs. Frances Mtichell, Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Hoskins and children
of Heppner, and Mr. and Mrs.
John G. Parker and children of
Pendleton motored to Mary Hill,
Wash, where they met the Vaw

her grandparents. Returning to
Salem with the Marshalls on
Sunday was Mary Olive Hughes
who has been with her parents
for thepast two weeks.

and son, Richard, were here
from Portland to spend the week
ed with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Parrish.
Mrs. Lulu Kleinegger of Grants
Pass arrived Monday for an ex
tended visit here with her sis
ter, Mrs. Alice Gentry.
Michael and David Reeves
have returned from a month's
visit in Baker with their grand-
parents.
Rev. and Mrs. J. Palmer Sorlein
and daughter, Meredith Ann are
vacationing in Seattle and other
points in Washington. During
their absence, Rev. L. G. Wetzel
is conducting services at the
Methodist church.
Henry Aiken has returned to
his home after spending several
days in Pioneer Memorial hospi
tal. o
VISIT RELATIVES HERE
Enroute to their home at Ft.
Steilacoom, Wash, after attend
ing the Shrine convention in Los
Angeles and then spending six
weeks touring southern and wes
tern states, Mr. and Mrs. Clay
ton Wright arrived in Heppner
Saturday to visit for a few days
with their nephew, Whitmer
Wright, and family. The follow
ing morning, Mr .and Mrs. Char
les Smith and children, Kathryn
and Duane of Bellingham, Wash.,
arrived at the Wright home here
Mrs. Smith is a cousin of Whit
mer Wright and a daughter of
the Clayton Wrights. It turned
out to be a surprise all around
as the Smiths had no idea their
parents were anywhere near
Heppner. Whitmer Wright is
with the forest service in the
Heppner ranger district.
