Children Surprise
W. E. McMillans On
25th Anniversary
Miss Tat McMillan, Mrs. George
Irvin and Mrs. Cecil Jones were
hostesses for a surprise informal
arty honoring their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. V. E. McMillan, on the
occasion of their 25th wedding
anniversary Friday night. There
were 32 guests. The cake was a
throe-tiered creation with doves
rind a beautiful top decoration of
white bells and silver leaves,
made by Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Ir
in. Lunch was served from, a
lace covered table with Mr. and
Mrs. McMillan cutting the first
piece of cake, .after which Mrs.
A. F. Maieske served. Mrs. Lou
Broadley poured coffee and Mrs. '
Belle Marquardt poured punch.
Their children resented them
with a set of silverware, while
many friends gave a silver of
fering to add to the set. They also
received many gifts. The evening
was spent visiting and playing
pinochle.
Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Breeding
spent the week-end in Prineville
with Mr. and Mrs. Don Grant,
bringing the Grant children, Jim
mie and eJan, home with them.
Delvie Irvin spent the week-end
in Bend.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grant and
children of Prineville are visit
ing relatives and friends in Lex
ington. The Glenn Griffith family is
visiting in Union and Wallowa.

i berry the past week. Mrs. Lind
quist is a cousin ot Mrs. (Jarlsan.
The visitors will visit Portland
and the coast while in Oregon.
The Valby Sunday school pic
nic was held at the Wightman
ranch in the mountains Sunday.
A large crowd attended and the
picnic was pronounced a great

I ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smethurst
of Lexington announce the en
gagement of their daughter, Bet
ty. Ann, to Herman Zeigler Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Zeig
ler of Grass Valley. The wedding
date will be announced later.
Both young people are students
at Eastern Oregon College at La
Grande and plan to continue
their studies this fall.
