day, May 8, 19501 the Board of
Equalization of Morrow Counly,
Oregon, will convene at the Court
House in Heppner, Oregon and
publicly examine the assessment
rolls of the said County for the
year of 1950-1951 and will cor
rect any errors in valuation, de
scription or quality in land, lots
or other property assessed by the
Assessor of Morrow County, Ore
gon, as of January 1, 1950.
All persons interested or hav
ing any complaints against their
assessments for the year 1919
1950, should appear at this time.

INCREASING TAX LEVY OVER
AMOUNT LIMITED BY SECTION
11. ARTICLE XI, STATE CON
STITUTION Notice is hereby given that an
election will be held May 15, 1950,
by the Rural School District of
Morrow County, State of Oregon,
in all component school districts
01 said Rural School District.
The election will beging at 2:30
P. M. and will be held in the
schoolhouse or place designated
by local school board in each of
said component districts. The
purpose of the election is to sub
mit to the legal voters of the
rural school district the question
of increasing the tax levy for the
fiscal year beginning July 1,
1950, over the amount limited
by Section 11, Article XI of the
Constitution.
The reasons for increasing such
levy are:
The low tax base due to the
fact that some districts lost
their base and others could
only be increased 67c per
year while costs have gone
up more rapidly during and
af ler the war years. Increased
costs are due to increased
cost of personnel, supplies,
equipment, and services; to
added services like transpor
tation, hot lunches, and mu
sic; to bringing school phy
sical plant and equipment
up to meet the required
standards. The total base for
all districts in the Rural
School District is $103,214.23
and the total to be raised by
tax is $336,913.00

Section 1. It shall be unlawful
for any person, firm or corpora
tion to permit or allow any dog,
male or female, of which they
are the owner or have control
thereof, to run at large on any
street, alley or public property
within the corporate limits of
the City of Heppner, Oregon, or
to permit or allow the same up
on any street or alley within
said corporate limits unless the ;
same is under the control of ,
some responsible person.
