Bill Settle sent an emergency call for Dr. Gerry. The doctor responded by flying to Monument. In pio neer days it would have taken two days of hard riding and driv ing to get a doctor from John Day to Monument. Times are surely changing. Frank McGirr and Hazel Hin ton of Fox attended the funeral rites for Howard Swick Friday. The wheel was damaged, otherwise no damgae was done, Emorv Moore and Spike Miller left Sunday for Seattle where they will go by plane to Alaska to get a sawmill which the Heppner Lumber company recently pur chased for their mill site near Pendleton. Moore and Miller will dismantle the mill and prepare it for shipment to Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Peterson of John Day visited Mrs. Peterson s mother, Mrs. Louise scott at top on December 11. Lee Fleming was a business visitor in John Day Monday. The MMM club held a Christ mas social meeting Thursday at the home of Mrs. Chance Wilson. A number of basketball fans went to Fossil Friday evening to see the first game of the season on the local floor between the town teams of Condon and Fossil.
