FORESTERS GATHER PINE
CONES FOR HARVESTING

proximately 25 bushels of pine
cones last week to send to the
Bend nursery for threshing. The
nursery will exchange sedlings
'for the seeds. Ranger Glenn Par
sons said enough cones were ga
thered to take care of replanting
needs for the next six years.
Planting was first begun in
Umatilla forest last year. It will
be continued each fall until the
Wall creek area burned out in
