McCurdy and Drake were on the mound for Heppner while Richard Mortimer pitched hl first full pame for Kinzua. He was a high school graduate thlg year. Heppner scored three runs in the first, followed by Kin. zua with five runs in the second half of the ranto and the Timber men maintained the lead throu ghout the came. Due to im proving the diamond at Heppner the boys played at Lexington. Kinzua' winning by a score of 25 to 20. They played Condon on Tuesday of this week. While working with a tractor on the Mortimer ranch this week. Don O'Strander was seriously in jured when the machine tipped over on him. One ear was nearly severed, it being necessary to hold It In place with clamps. He also suffered burns to both feet. He was pinned under the tractor about an hour before being found. Don is third baseman on the Kin zua baseball team. Flovd Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Phi! Doerr and Mr. and Mrs. Al Kudd of Kinzua and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hadley of l amp 5 attended the Central Oregon district coun cil meeting at Bend this week end. Kudd is president of this lo cal, while Hadley is the president lot eamp 5 union. Thomas and !D;iorr were delegates. The Girls club gave a party at I the Mansky home in honor of Nona Leathers and Eulene Dunn ; Tuesday evening and presented !eoch with a lovely gift. Mrs. Lea thers was president but resigned because she is leaving for school. Miss Dunn went to California. Joan Adams was elected presi ident. Refreshments were served. I Henry Brummet was injured ! when he wrecked his car late Saturday night. He was returning ' home from a dance at Mayville. He was taken to The Dalles hos pital and word was received here . by relatives he had a broken 'shoulder and a possible skull I fracture. The accident occurred ; near Fossil. t Mildred Halverson of Seattle s visiting at the home of her son : Lester and wife. Ralph Moore spent the week end at his ranch near Lonerock. i R R. Wright and daughter, Mrs. C. Whitin;-er and her son spnt : the past few days here visiting ! at the home of 'his son, "Slip' Wright. The visitors are from Lewiston, Idaho. I Marvin Hines took Mrs. Hines to Heppner Monday to consult a doctor. She is suffering from a back ailment. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Wright and Pattie went to The Dalles Wed nesday where Mr. Wright's fa ther is ill and underwent an op eration. Since the father is an aged man the operation was con sidered extremely serious. The Wrights returned Thursday. Arthur Thomas accompanied O. D. Baker to Portland the last of the week where he will work during the summer for his grand father. L. L. Perry. Mrs. Slim Rhoten and Mrs. Jim Gleaton were visiting Mrs. Vernon Perry Thursday from Camp 5. Mrs, R. Roab and children of Spokane spent the week-end here visiting her husband. Mr. Roab took the place of Frank Galyean on the logging crew. Joe Schott spent the week-end at Prineville with his wife and daughter Lillian who is in a hos pital there. She will not be able to be moved home until the last of this week. Miss Schott was a student at Eugene and would have completed her course on the 17th of June. She will not return to school this term. Mrs. Tom McCormick and friend Hazel Richardson and dau- Ighter Sue have been visiting her sisters. Mrs. forest oranam and Mrs. J. D. Coleman and friends the past week. They are from Flo rence and visited Mrs. Mccor mick's mother. Mrs. Hattie Stev ens at Fossil en route to Kinzua. J. B. Adams and son La Vonne and Mrs. Ester Burnside and chil dren and Charles Kirk of Heppner and Evelyn Harrison of Condon were visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Adams Sunday. They saw the ball game while here. Pop Owens is spending a few weeks here from The Dalles vis ting at the home of his daugh ter. Mrs. Warren Jobe and son Jack Owens. Mr. and Mrs, Delvin McDaniel Boardman Future Farmers Exhibit Stock at Union Pat and Beverly Pettys of Pen dleton are spending the week at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs Nate Macomber. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Tannehill and Mrs. A. Allen were in The Dalles Monday. Mr. Tannehill had a physical check-up. Elva Mae Gillespie of Wendel, Ida. is visiting at the Z. J. Gilles pie home. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Black, with some of the F.F.A. class, at tended the Eastern Oregon Live stock show this week at Union. Boys attending were Keith Tan nehill, Peter Cassidy, Allan Elv, Delbert Ball, Emsley Rogers, Stanley Shattuck, and Kenneth Earwood. Emmett Rogers took the stock up for the boys Rev. C. A. Hawley of Boise. Ida. will hold services at the Com munity church Sundays June 12 and 19 while Rev. Ebfe is on his vacation. Services will be at 11:30 a. m. Everyone is invited to at tend. The Boardman Softball team played the State Hospital team Sunday at Pendleton winning the game is to 11. Miss Asta Skoubo of Portland took Bobby Stevens to his home Saturday. He had been visiting them the past week. They also went to Lexington to see the boys play ball. visited over the week-end at the home ot her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Skoubo. Wesley Neugart has entered the veterans hospital at Portland for treatments. Mrs. Neugart and children will go to Salem to stay during his hospitalization. Don Tannehill returned to Port, land Monday after spending the week-end with his family. Fie is taking a month's training prepar ing to become a train dispatcher. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Zehner of Woodburn are visiting their dau ghter and family Mrs. Florence Califf. The Boardman Better Garden club met at the home of Mrs. Glen Carpenter Monday night, with five members and two vis itors present. The hostesses, Mrs. Carpenter and Mrs. Hugh Brown, served a lovely lunch after a very interesting meeting. -Mrs. Jack Mulligan, Walter Wess, Charles Anderegg and dau ghter Barbara called to see Mrs. Weiss who is contineo in tne it. Tannehill, Mrs. Don Tannehill and daugh ter Mary attended the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show at Union Wednesday. Duane Brown carried the mail in Mr. Tannehill's ab sence. A group of ladies called on Mrs. Bill Earnhart on her birthday, Monday. Those attending were Mesdames Jack Mulligan, Ray Brown, Robert Wilson, Fred Lu cas, Earl Briggs, Jack Campbell and Robert Fortner. The after noon was spent at playing cards. Mrs. Fred Lucas of Heppner came Monday to spend a short time with her daughter and fam ily, the Robert Fortners. Tommy Driscoll came wtih her and will spend the summer with his grandparents, the Fortners. Mrs. Claud Coats is at Hard- man helping care for Mr. Coats's mother, Mrs. Mary Coats, wno is quite ill.
