team drove to John Day last
Thusrday to play Grant Union
high school. They came home
well pleased with their victory of
17-1. Many local people traveled
with the team and cheered them
on to victoy. Ths has been our
best high shcool team in many
years. On May 6 Spray will bring
her strong team to Monument to
play ou Savages. It is generally
conceded that Spray has been
our toughest opponent to date.

KINZUA NEWS
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Merritt and
son spent the week-end with Mr.
and Mrs Victor Lovgren.at their
ranch on Eight Mile and also
visited in Hardman.
Hiram Cook made a business
trip to The Dalles Monday, re
turning Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Hines and
daughter Ginger were Sunday
visitors at Lonerock with Mr. and
Mrs. Homer Davis and Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Rogers.
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Hadley and

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barnes spent
the week-end at Baker visiting
Mrs. Barnes's parents.
Mack Samples was transferred
from the factory to Camp 5 where
he will work at the landing.
Preston Medlock moved his
family from Camp 5 to Kinzua
this week-end. He will cut logs
on a spur from Kinzua.

skating rink. There was a large
crowd, many of which stayea to
spend the evening skating.

Four new typewriters were de
livered to the high school this
week by Ryder Bros. The students
are pleased with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Tim Lovgren left
Friday for Heppner to spend the
week-end.

Prairie City visited his son Earl
Johns and family Sunday. They
were accompanied by Earl's bro

visitors in John Day Monday.

turned to their home in Monu

Wilson drove to Hamlton Wed
nesday afternoon. They visited
the Tom Ross sawmill Deiow
Hamilton.
Plans are being formulated by
the high school for the annual
junior-senior banquet to be held
the evening of May 7. The Home
Ec class, under the direction of
Mrs. McLaughlin will prepare
teh dinner. It will be served by
the under classmen. Honored
guests will be the parents of the
upper classmen and school board
members.

turned Friday from a week's stay
in Eugene.
