To Alter Patterns Miss Mabel Wilson, home dem onstration agent, will demon strate methods of altering pat terns at the home of Mrs. George Currin for the Lena unit on Fri day, January 28, at 1 p.m. Miss Wilson has given similar dem onstrations on that subject to 12 Morrow county homemakers this month.. Persons interested in the subject are invited to attend this demonstration. New Cottons Bring Spring Fever When homemakers get to look ing at the lovely cotton fabrics on the market, it makes them think surely spring is just around the corner. You can take your pick of many different types of cotton materials now and it is hard to choose one above the other. The irridescents are most interesting. Chambrays look like changeable taffetas and silks and yes, there are even cotton taffetas on the market! Plaids come in large or tiny- rectangles lovely in the new soft colors. Stripes and checks are right in there beside them. These fine checks make a nice all-over effect when you see them a short distance away. The trend seems to be toward the feminine styles in materials. The more feminine the better. That unclut tered look is the most popular. The paisleys and the east In dian and oriental designs that we saw in ready-to-wear last year are here in yardage this year. Damask prints are coming out. So are the cotton tweeds and dobby weaves we see ordinarily in men's shirts. Texture is very important. Silks are plentiful and in many varia tions. As to color beige and cream color are pushing the gray into the background. Dark blue is very good; especially with white trim. Brown and violet are two other very popular basic colors this season. To go with these ar the red-orange, tangarine, peach and pale pink. Sea foam, jade, and flame are coming up the popularity ladder, too.
