Saturday. April 10. at St. Mary's
cathedral in Portland, Rev. Don
ald C Denman officiating.
The bride wore a light gray
wool suit with tan and white ac
cessories and a corsage of Talis
man rosebuds. Her bridesmaid.
Miss Patricia Kenny, wore a gray
suit with green accessories and a
corsage of red carnations. Wil
liam Healy. brother of the bride
groom, was best man.
A reception was held after the
wedding at the home of the
bride's brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Crawford Jr.
Cake, ice cream, coffee and punch
were served from a table decor
ated with yelow candles and daf
fodils. Mrs. Delia Corson of lone
m.uie the wedding cane, a two
tiered angel food decorated in
yoiiow. After the bride and groom
cut the first piece the cjixc .is
served by Miss Marie Healy. Mrs.
('one Hodge and Miss Rosetta
Healy poured the coffee and
punch.
The couple will live at Rock
away where Mr. Healy is employ
ed m a plywood mill.
Those attending the wedding
from this part of the country
were Mrs. John Healy and chil

and Mrs. Harry O'Donnell Jr.,
Harry O'Donnell Sr.. Miss Patri
cia Kenny and Mrs. Ida Coleman

The senior class sponsored a
movie at the school house Fri
day evening of last week and
served pie and coffee in the lunch
room.
Graveside services were held
for J. E Musgrave at the I.O.O.F.
cemetery here Friday afternoon,
April 9. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Mus
grave of Hamilton attended the
services.
The study meeting of the Topic
club met at the home of Mrs. B.
C. Forsvthe Friday afternoon.

eleven candidates were initiated
in the 1st and 2nd degrees, after
which a lunch of sandwiches,
cake and coffee was served. Mrs.
Bertha Severin and Mrs. Fred Ely
were presented with gifts in hon
or of their birthdays.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Heliker
are visiting relatives in The Dal
les for a few days.
Mr. and Mrs. Verl Farnsworth
of Portland visited at the Paul O'
Meara home last week. Mrs.
Farnsworth and Mrs. O'Meara are
cousins.
An item of curiosity was noted
in a cherry tree on Second street
where a wild currant bush
growing in the branches of the
tree.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ring were
Portland visitors last week. They
stopped at Hood River Saturday
and brought Mrs. Ring's mother,
Mrs. V. M. Rowell, home with
them for a short visit.
About 12 men from here at
tended a Masonic meeting in
Condon Saturday.
Mrs. Gordon White went to The
Dalles Sunday for medical treat
ment. Her daughter Lona is home
from The Dalles hospital and has
recovered from a throat infection.
Miss Eva Swanson left for Sa
lem last week where she will
take a short business course be
fore leaving for California.
Those going skiing at Tollgate
Sunday from here were Donald
Peterson, Gene Rietmann, Bill,
Joe and Bob Rietmann, Ted Pal
mateer and Joel Engelman. They
stopped at Pendleton to visit Jim
my Barnett who is recovering
from an appendectomy at the St.
Anthony's hospital. He expects to
come home Monday.
A silver tea was given Satur
day afternoon in the American
Legion hall, the proceeds going
to the child welfare work. Those
in charge of the arrangements
were Mrs. Victor Rietmann, child
welfare chairman of the auxili
ary, and Mrs. Earl McCabe. The
following program was given: A
talk on the aims and purposes
of the American Legion Auxiliary
Child Welfare work; two piano
solos; "Humoresque" and "A Bas
ket of Roses" by Mrs. Cleo Drake;
reading, "When the Minutes
Drag" by Miss Ruby Ann Riet
mann; vocal solos, "Duna" and
"Along the Lazy Countryside," by
Miss Patricia Drake. Open-faced
sandwiches, cookies, tea and cof
fee were served from a table dec
orated with candles, daffodils
and narcissus. Pouring were Mrs.
Cecil Thome, president of the
auxiliary, and Mrs. Omar Riet
mann.
Mrs. Al Huit went to The Dalles
Saturday with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Lee Howell of Heppner.
Mrs. Lana Padberg and Mrs.
Darrell Padberg were Pendleton
visitors one day last week.
The Lutheran Missionary soci
ety met at the Leonard Carlson
home Sunday afternoon with 40
attending. The subject of the
meeting was "Home Missions."

also a number of laymen who
were speakers from Milton, Pen
dleton, Athena, Helix, Hermiston
and FTeewater.
A telephone meeting was held
at Oscar Peterson's Monday night
with about 20 attending. Plans
were discussed for building new
lines.

a rampage and scored six runs in
the sixth inning by virtue of iiits
by Bergstrom, Hermann, Ross Do
herty and Gene Doherty and
walks to Aldrich and Warren. The
final run was scored in the sev
enth inning by Warren who got
on base by a fielder's choice and
was advanced home by a double
by Pettyjohn. Arlington scored
runs in the fourth and seventh in
nings. Ross Doherty pitched good
ball for lone, fanning 13 men and
'allowing three hits.

Final Rites Held
For James Bailey
The memorial service of the
American Legon was held at 1C
a. m., Sunday for James Bailey,
46, whose death occurred April 8
in Heppner. The body was taken
to Fossil immediately after the
service where the Fossil post con
ducted the burial service.
Mr. Bailey, a veteran of World
War II, had been, an asthma suf
ferer since boyhood and this fin
ally cluminated in pneumonia,
resulting in death after a brief
Illness.
He was born May 1, 1901, at
Jackson, Wyo., the son of John W.
and Clara B. Bailey. He had
made his home near Heppner the
past 11 years, working on ranch
es most of the time.

In accordance with the provisions of the "Local Budget Law" (Sections 1101201 to 110-1215 O.C.L.A., as amended), notice is hereby given that the budget commit
tee of Morrow County, Oregon, in compliance with said law, prepared and adopted on March 15, 1948, the budget estimates for Morrow County, Oregon, for the ensu
ing fiscal year July 1, 1948 to June 30, 1949, as set forth in the accompanying schedules. All persons are hereby notified that on Tuesday, the 11th day of May, 1948, at
