hour at the regular meeting of
the lone Parent-Teachers associa
tion held at the school Thursday
evening, March 11. Mrs. H. H.
Hargreaves of Portland, president
of the Oregon Congress of Parents
and Teachers, was the guest
speaker. Mrs. Hargreaves talked
on the guiding principles of the

gers and Mrs. Noel Dobyns pour
ing. Others assisting on the com
mittee were Mrs. Victor Riet
mann, Mrs. David Rietmann, Mrs.
Earl McCabe and Mrs. L. A. Mc
Cabe. In the business meeting a nom
inating committee consisting of
Mrs. Cleo Drake, Mrs. Garland
mann was elected. It was voted

this year towards the Oregon
Congress of Parents and Teach
ers scholarship project to 6end
students to any of the three state
colleges of education and give a
full scholarship next year.

The study meeting of the Topic
club met at the home of Mrs.
M. E. Cotter Friday, March 12,
with 13 members and 2 guests
present. The book, "Scudda-Hoo,
Scudda-Hay," by Geo. Agnew
Chamberlain, was reviewed by
Mrs. Noel Dobyns.
Refreshments were served by
the hostesses, Mrs. Cotter, Mrs.
Dobyns and Mrs. Wm. Seehafer.
The St. Patrick's dance at the
Legion hall Saturday nlaht was
well attended.

Mrs. Frank Engelman Is now
home from The Dalles hospital.
A miscellaneous shower was
given the Clell Rea family who
recently lost their home by fire,
Sunday evening at the Legion
hall, sponsored by the commun
ity. A large crowd attended. The
Reas received many lovely gifts
which included a bed, blankets,
pillows and other bedding, dish
es, cooking utensils, cash dona
tions, and numerous other arti
cles. Refreshments of sandwich
es, cake and coffee were served.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lieuallen
who have been living at Gresh
am are taking over the Victory
cafe. They operated the cafe- a
few years ago.

purchasing the apartments in
which they are living, from Ar
thur Stefani Sr.
The Baptist Ladies Aid will
meet with Mrs. Ralph Aldrich on
March 18th and with Mrs. Ed Al
drich, March 25. Mrs. Ralph Al
drich, Mrs. Ed Aldrich, Mrs. Mat
thew Ball and Mrs. Lana Padberg
attended a Baptist convention at
Umatilla recently.
The Maranathas met at the
home of Mrs. John Proudfoot on
Wednesday, March 10, with 11
members and two guests present.
It was decided to collect clothing
and other articles to be sent to
Europe. Refreshments were serv
ed by Mrs. Proudfoot and Mrs.
Earl McKinney.
The IMIA held- their regular
meeting at the Legion hall the
evnlng of March 10. One new
director, Earl McKinney, was el
ected, as were three executive
officers, Franklin Lindstrom, Mil
ton Morgan and Mrs. Donald Hel
ker. Other officers will be elected
later.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Helmbigner
of Odessa, Wash., are visiting at
the home of their son, Ray Heim
