were united in marriage by Rev.
John Ricketts in the Commun
ity Baptist church Sunday eve
ning in a beautiful candlelight
service. Mrs. Wayne Swogger
was the matron of honor and
Wayne Swogger was the best
man. Deloreg, Browning sang
"Because" and "Always" accom
panied by Lavelle Markham at
the piano. Miss Markham also
played the wedding march. After
the ceremony the bridal party
attended a reception at the John
Voile home. The young couple
left for Portland and vicinity on
a short honeymoon trip. Upon
their return they will be at
home In Irrigon. Out-of-town
guests at the wedding were Mr
and Mrs. Lyle Cuttingham of
Partuna, Calif., Mrs. McGirl of
Pendleton, and Pat McLaughlin
of Pendleton, Mrs. Elsie Voile
and daughter Barbara of Wal
la Walla, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy
Minnick of Ordnance.
H. H. Smunk has started a
house on his land that he pur
chased recently. It is part of the
Sam Smith place.
Mrs. H. H. Smunk Is to return
home from Walla Walla Tues
day. She had an appendicitis
operation about .ten days ago.
Sam Umiker is building a
house on the Umiker lot west
of their home.
The carpenters are finishing
the Standard station with glass
blocks. It improves the appear
ance of it very much.
The Adventists have their
church finished and are going to
dedicate it January 3.
Mr. and Mrs. Mart Abken and
daughter Glenda were in Prosser
Sunday.
H. H. Whipple and Avery
Shoun were in Stanfield Mon
day. Betty Acock of Pendleton and
James A. Shoun of Walla Walla
visited home folks Sunday.
The Boardman grade basket
ball boys played the 7th and 8th
grade Irrigon basketball boys.
Boardman won, 13-12.
The high school is having their
Christmas dinner Tuesday eve
ning. The Christmas program is
Thursday night and the Christ
mas vacation begins Friday eve
ning and will last until Jan. 5.
Mrs. Lora Stratman had Christ
mas party for the 3rd and 4th
grades with their mothers as
guests.
Mrs. Lora Stratman Is leaving
for Gunnison, Col., her home, for
the Christmas vacation.
Mrs. Margaret White and
daughter Loretta moved from
Stanfield to their new home back
of the postoffice.
CHURCH WOMEN PARTY
AT JONES RESIDENCE
The women's council of the
Church of Christ had a Christ
mas party at the home of Mrs.
C. N. Jones Wednesday, when 30
members and friends were pre
sent. A potluck dinner was serv
ed at noon, followed by the reg
ular missionary program.
An exchange of Christmas
gifts was the closing feature of
the all-day affair.

Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Rosewall
drove to Pasco Wednesday eve
ning to catch a train for Seattle
where they are attending the in
itial showing of 1948 Ford trucks
today. They expected to return
home Friday.
