Tax Bill Sizeable

pany's 1947 real and property
property taxes in Morrow coun
ty was turned over to Sheriff C.
J. D. Bauman this week by J. It
Huffman, local manager for the
power company.
Total property tax being paid
to Oregon counties this week by
Pacific is $710,150, highest in the
company's history, Huffman said.
Adding taxes paid in support of
the federal government and state
of Washington property taxes,
the company's total tax bill for
the year is expected to top $2,-760,000.

MRS. ROSEWALL'S FATHER
PASSED AWAT SUNDAT
Funeral services were held Tu
esday afternoon at Weston for
J. H. Key who died Sunday at
Walla Walla after a lingering
illness. Mr. Key was 79 years of
age and was a long-time resi
dent of Weston. He was preced
ed in death by his wife in 1944.
Surviving are three daughters,
Mrs. Harrison Kirk of Weston;
Mrs. Lewis Van Winkle of Long
Beach, Cal., and Mrs. W. C. Rose
wall of Heppner; and two sons,
Roy and Grant Key of Weston.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bleakman
moved In from the Bull Prairie
guard station Friday. They re
port travel from the station to
the Heppner-Spray highway
somewhat difficult due to the ex
cessive amount of moisture fall
ing In the mountains early this
month.

COMING ON VISIT
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bleakman
have received word from their
son Percy that he and his fam
ily will leave San Jose, Costa Ri
ca, between the 8th and 15th of
December for Heppner to spend
the Christmas holidays with
them.' "Bub," as Percy is known
hereabouts, Is employed with
the public roads administration
and has been located in Costa
Rica for two years. His letter
said they would fly from San
Jose to Florida and come across
country by rail in order to see
more of it.
Mrs. G. W. Thompson is visit
ing this week with her sister,

by Mrs. Lucy Wright, where she
has made her home for several
