From where I sit ... ly Joe Marsh
It's Living
Thtt Counts"
I stole the title of this column
from a magazine article that said
a whole lot better than I can what
farm and country life can mean.
We talk about farm profits, pro
duction, research, and mechanical
improvements . . . but Isn't it true,
what we really value is the life
country living offers us? . . , the
chance to be close to our families
and neighbors children sharing
in the chores , , . working with our
own hands at a worthwhile Job.
And country pleasures are
simple: good talk at day's end, and
a glass of mellow beer with friends
. . . the companionship of man and
wife, unruffled by distractions of
the city ... the mutual tolerance
of one another's tastes in choos
ing a friend, or a glass of beer, or
a candidate for Governor.
Mind, I'm all for material Im
provements. But from where I sit,
the real goodness of our country
life Is that spirit of tolerance,
moderation, and good fellowship.
