The Dalles show was discuss
ed and Mr. Andersoa gave a
brief outline of what would hap
pen there. All calves going down
to the show should be finished
by the middle of May. If all
calves finish out in time there
will be 11 calves from Morrow
county going to the show.
The next meeting was decided
to be held at the Oscar Peterson
ranch June 1-
Since there was no further bus
iness the meeting was adjourn
ed. After the meeting refresh
ments of ice cream, lemonade
und cookies were served.
There were 17 members pre
sent and 11 visitors.
Mr. Nelson, lone school band
director instructed the 4-H band
for a while after the meeting.
The 4-H band will appear on the
next Farm Bureau program to
be held at Lexington June 2.
Demonstration teams, Jo Anne
Graves and Betty Graves gave a
demonstration to the, club On
"Grooming the 4-H Calf while
Ronald and Duane Baker dem
onstrated 'The Need for Grub.
Control." All club members and
parents enjoyed these demon
strations. Ingrid Hermann, re
porter. Following is the May schedule

The lone 4-H cooking II club
led by Mrs. L. A. McCabe of lone
has practically completed its
cooking club. They are working
on their demonstration teams.
At the next meeting they will
complete their record books.
Besides their 4-H club activi
ties th's club helps with many
lone community affairs. Recent
ly they were the waitresses for
the Morrow county homemakers
day dinner and the annual heal
th day dinner.

thing II club. Material and pat
tern selection were discussed.
The girls will start their second
club for the year in late May.
The Boardman 4 H clothing II
club is progressing nicely under
the leadership of Mrs. Ronald
Black. As soon as the girls have
finished making their cotton
dresses they will begin to sew
on their aprons and pot holders.
The Morrow county 4-H health
clubs are nearing completion.
The judging for the boy and girl
to compete in the 4-H health
contest at state fair will take
place in Heppner on Tuesday,
May 13. Four-H posters will ht
judged on the same day. The
winning posters will be display
ed at 4-H summer school on
Oregon State college campus
June 17 to June 27. Every 4-H
club member is eligible to enter
this contest. All posters are to
be turned in to the home dem
onstration agent's office not lat
er than Saturday, May 10.
Terry Thompson, reporter of
the Heppner Woodchucks reports
that Mrs. Tress McClintock's 4-H
woodworking club is having a
lot of fun learning how to square
a board, make a foot stool and
make a tool box. Later they will
make a tabje book case and a
waste paper basket from wood.

Gloria Orwick reports that the
Heppner sewing I 4-H club led
by Mrs. Laurel Van Marter is
going to be the first 4-H home
economics club In the county to
elect a treasurer. The girls re
cently conducted a popcorn sale
at the local theater to raise
funds to entertain their mothers.
This group has finished their
pin cushion and will start work
on their weaving of table mats.
