mother from San Francisco. He was
on hi way from Fort Lewis to
Maryland where he is to be sta
tioned. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller of
Hermiston were in Irrigon Thurs
day. The Irrigon band played in a
football rally at Umatilla Wednes
day evening. Irrigon played its
first team on the Irrigon field Fri
day evening. Umatilia won, 22-6.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Cane of
Boise, Ida. left Wednesday after
gpending a few days with his aunt,
Mr. Tom Caldwell and other rel
ative and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Shoun and
ton Steven spent Tuesday with his
parents, the J. A. Shouns.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kucker and
A. E. Stephens were Pendleton vis
itor Monday,

A drivers' license examiner is
scheduled to be on duty in Hepp
ner Tuesday, Oct 1 at the court
house between the hours of 10 a.
m. and 4 p m., according to an an
nouncement received from the sec
retary of state's office.- Persons
wishing licenses or permits to drive
are asked to get in touch with the
examiner well ahead of the sched
uled closing hour in order to assure
completion of their applications
with a minimum of delay.
