from the National American Red
Cross headquarters that Mrs. Elaine
S. Georee. ' manager of the Star
Theatre in Heppner, has been made
thp Oregon representative in the
24 Hour club.
Mrs. George was given the sig
nal honor by the motion ptctur in
dustry for her participation in the
1946 Red Cross Theater Collection
drive. Mrs. George, through her
friendship with her many patrons,
was able to collect the largest in
crease for the Red Cross Theatre
collection drive over the last year of
any of the other 223 theatres in
Oregon.
F&r this accomplishment, Mrs.
Georee is the Oregon representa
tive in the 24 Hour club. She, or
W husband, will go to Los Ange
Ipb to pomoete with the winners of
thp four northwest states for the
honor of representing the Pacific
northwest. That winner will be sent
to Washington D. C. to meet Pres
ident Harry S. Truman in the White
House. They will confer and plan
the 1947 program.
Mrs. George, a native of Hepp
ner, has been in the theatre busi
ness all of her life. Her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sigsbee, took
over the Star Theatre in 1918. A
of Hennner high school
and of the Northwestern School of
Commerce in Portland, Mrs. Ueoge
recently received the U. S. Treas
ury Riivpr award for services ren
dered in war bond sales during the
