ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED
Mr. an i Mrs. M. N. Kirk of Hep
pner rnnaunce the engagement of
their d?ghtei Merlyn, to Donald
O. Rotinson, U. S. army, son of Ivlr.
and Mrs. Roy Robinson of Hard
man. The news was told friends of
the bride at an evening dinner Eas
day at the Benton hotel in Cor
vallis. The announcements were
concealed in the Easter favors and
came as a surprise to the girls pre
sent among whom was Evelyn
Bosworth of Portland.
Surprising Merlyn were corsages
for the guests from her mother.
Cpl. Robinson sent orchids for the
occasion and an aunt, Mrs. Dessa
Hoffstetter of Monument sent gar
denias. Miss Kirk is a student at Oregon
State college, having graduated
from Heppner high school in 1944.
Cpl Robinson is now stationed at
Madigan hospital, Fort Lewis,
Wash, awaiting final operations on
his leg which was injured while
serving overseas, before he will be
discharged from the army.
No date has been set for the
wedding.
Sans Souci Rebekah lodge an
nounces that the next Meeting will
be May 3 at which time there will
be initiation and a Mothers' day
jr-ojrarn. A lar attendance is urg
ed. At the last meeting donations
were made to the cancer and Red
Cross drives.
Cus Nikar.der went by train to
Portland Tuesday night to at
tend a refrigeration service school
for three days.
RELIGIOUS WORKER COMING
Miss Dora Lee Allen of Virginia
will be at the Methodist church in
Hfeppner on Friday, April 26. Miss

church. She will meet with mothrs
of the church school students at
2:30 in the afternoon. At 8 p. m.
she will address a gathering of pa
rents and teachers. Those interested
in religious education of any church
are welcome to meet with Miss
Allen at either meeting, according
to Rev. Fletcher Forster.

Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Shannon ar
rived last week from his home in
Mercer County Mo. The young
man will spend some time with his
relatives here.
Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Hudson and
Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Shannon were
in rcdleton- on business Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. George Krebs, for
mer Morrow county residents were
visiting friends and relatives the
past week. They were guests of
their son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Don Evans for several
days, going from here to Cecil.
Other guests at the Evans home
last Thursday were Mr. and Mrs.
Laurance Harmon of Walla Walla
and Mr. and "Irs. Joe Edington and
son of San Diego. Mrs. Harmon and
Mrs. Edington are daughters of Mr.
and Mrs. Krebs. Their son Marion
and his wife are locating in Port
land as Marion has been discharged
from service just recently.
