EDITORIAL . A word of warning is sounded by officials of the Lexington airport to unthinking individuals who use the landing field as an automobile play ground. The airport was built to accommodate planes and, day or night, there is the possibility that a plane may come in for a landing. What would happen if the landing strip were all clut tered up with racing or parked automobiles and an airship came in for a landing? Your answer is as good as ours. There is a road leading from the highway up to the port. That was built for the accommodation of patrons and visitors. Flying and training are done mostly in the daytime, consequently the port is unguarded at night. The manager and officials are obliged to trust to the honesty and good will of the people from closing time at night to opening time in the morning. In the main that trust is not being violated, but a few thoughtless people are infringing upon the port premises and this cannot go on without creating a serious situation. If you must joyride there are miles and miles ))( 'paved highways at your disposal, and if you mtist neck, stay off of the landing strip ere you get your neck broken. There may be some foundation for the fears extant throughout the non-Russian world that Sta lin and his mates are preparing for another war, but it hardly seems likely. The Russians had a nropram Ion? before World War II which was r o cf i rudely interrupted by the German invasion. Upon cessation of hostilities Ivan began , to draw the remnants of the Third Internationale or whatever it was together again and take up the struggle once more for world communism. If straightening out boundary lines is part of that world plan that's what must be done, having not the welfare of his neighbor in mind so much as accomplishment of the general purpose. Thus we see that Russia has a plan, good or bad, which may not be worth fight ing another all-out war but which is worth doing some craftv bluffing as a means to an end. In that respect Russia differs from our" own country. We don't appear to know where we want to tro or how to eet there and so long as we are in this muddled state of mind it is only natural that Stalin will take advantage of us. One wonders if the administration and state department know what it is all about or if they do, have they any fixed ideas about handling the situation. Congratulations to Ralph Thompson upon fil ing for county commissioner. He has the ability, has had experience in developing and operating a considerable ranch enterprise of his own, and has the welfare of community and county at heart. He will make a good commissioner and merits a good IIIIHIIimH(intllMIIIIHtl1HlllHUHI)IHIIIIIIHHnilllHIH ''IIMIIHIIhHtlllltMllllflllllKIIIIIHIIIIIIMMIIIIIhllllUMIllllMIIMIIIIIIM Reynolds EalNl Pen NO QUILL . .
