2 -Heppner Gazette Times, December: 1945 News of Folks in and Around Town Mr. and Mrs. John Turner of Baker spent Christmas in lone with Mrs. Turner's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Engelman. They were in Heppner on Wednesday visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Howell spent Christmas . in Portland, going down on Sunday. Mrs. Howell contracted a flu germ and is now confined to her bed. Mr. and Mrs. John Clouston and daughters of Pendleton and Mr. and Mrs.' A. C. Heyden and child ren of Stanf ield, were Christmas guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs Loyal Parker. The women are sis ters of Mrs. Parker's. With the ex ception of a brother who has not returned from overseas, the entire family were all together. Glenn McMurtry is home on 30 day leave from his Navy duties in the Pacific. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. G. McMurtry, met their son in Pendleton on Christmas Eve. Eugene Normoyle and Miss Janet Hodge were married in Lewiston, Ida., Sunday, Dec. 23, and upon their return went to their farm home near lone. The groom is a returned veteran and Mrs. Nor- moylel daughter of C. L. Hodge, is a nurse, and has been employed in the offices of Dr. L. D. Tibbies and Dr. R. C. Lawrence. Mr. and Mrs. Kemp Green and son arrived in Heppner Sunday to surorise Mr. Green's brother, Alex and family. After spending Christ mas here, the visitors departed Wednesday morning to visit rela tives and friends in Washington and California. The guests live in Nebraska and drove west for the holiday visit. M. L. Case was agreeably sur prised when his son, Harold, and family arrived from Clatskanie, Ore. to spend Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Case and Janet returned home Tuesday evening. Kathrvn Gail has arrived to grace the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoskins Jr., as of Dec. 21. The little miss was born at the home of her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Parker and both mother and child are doing very well. Gail weighed nine pounds and a nicer baby this reporter has not seen in some time. We arent prejudiced, either. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Marshall and daughter, Julia Lee, are scheduled to arrive ' in Heppner tomorrow to visit at the home of Mrs. Marshall's Darents. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hughes. Mr. Marshall has just this past week-end been discharged tromthe army and is once more entering upon the life of a civilian. Happy New Year!
