Mrs. Leo Potts gave a birthday
party for her two daughters, Marie,
aged eight and Irene, one year. At
tending were: Susan Partlow, Con
nie and Carolyn Baker, Sharon
Pussell, Delores Carlson, Franklin
Delano, Ann McLouth and Ora Ely.
( Mrs. Bill Lilly and sons Eldon
and Dickie of Imbler spent the
week-end visiting friends and re
latives here. Eldon has quit college
at Oregon State as he is entering
the service Thursday Dec. 20.
Mr. and Mrs. George Linn enter
tained the teachers at their home
Friday evening with a luncheon.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs.
Adrian Bechdolt Ronald Black,
Guy Yarnell, Mrs. Maxine Scott
and Mrs. Black.
A shower was given Mr. and Mrs.
Alvin Duelen and family and Mr.
and Mrs. Bob McLean at the grange
hall Monday night. These families
lost their home by fire. Sandwiches
and coffee were served and danc
ing was enjoyed after the shower.
Leonard Robertson motored to
Portland Sunday to visit his sister,
Rozella. His mother who has been
visiting down there returned with
him Sunday.

FLIES FROM FLORIDA
Len Gilman is home on leave for
ten days, arriving Monday. He flew
from Florida, leaving there Sun
day and arriving at Walla Walla
Monday afternoon where he was
met by Mr. and Mrs. Rod Thom
son and brought to Heppner. Bad
weather made it impossible to land
at Pendleton as scheduled.

Word has been received here
that FO Boyd Redding was aboard
the General Morton which was
due to dock at New York Monday.
AMM2c and Mrs. Claude Snow
and baby left Wednesday for New
port Wash., to spend Christmas
with Mrs. Snow's parents. Claude
has but recently returned from Ok
inawa and will report to Seattle
for further orders.
Charles Hodge arrived in Hepp
ner the last of the week with his
honorable discharge in hand. Char
les was a CPO in the navy and has
seen much service the past several
years.
Major and Mrs. Edward Burchell
returned home from Seattle Mon
day, -where Mrs. Burchell had gone
to meet her husband when he
landed from his tour of duty over
seas. Maj. Burchell contemplates
remaining in the army.
