LT. COMDR GORDON RIDINGS
GETS ST. MARY'S POST
According to the Eugene Register-Guard,
Lt. Comdr. Gordon H.
Ridings, former "University of Ore
gon all-star athlete whose home is
in Eugene, has been named assis
tant director of athletics at St.
Mary's navy pre-flight school at
Moraga, Calif. Originally assigned
to the statistical bureau of the air
fleet in Washington, D. C, where
he was sationed after leaving a
coaching post atColumbia Uni
versity, Commander Ridings has
just recently returned from a tour
of duty in South America. En route
to Eugene from Washington, he
called his wife's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. M. D. Clark, from Pendleton.
Capt. Clyde W. King, command
ing officer who made the announce
ment, said that the former profes
sor of physical education at Col
umbia had been in charge of all
physical training work for the
fourth fleet before going to St.
Mary's.
