BOARDMAN NEWS

Graveside funeral services were
held at the Boardman cemetery
July 18 for Claude Myers, with
Harry Thorpe in charge. Claude
Myers was born June 23, 1872, in
Edgar county. 111., and died at Sa
lem July 14. 1945, at the age of 73.
Mr. Myers was a former resident
of Boardman. He is survived by a
sister.
Several business transactions
have taken place in Boardman in
the past few weeks. The Boardman
Coffee Shop was reopened by My
ral Anderson of Arlington. Lloyd
Rinehart, former proprietor, moved
to Portland last week where he
plans to reside.
The Rose land cafe was sold to
Ernie Knopp, former traffic officer
for the state of Oregon. Slim Rose
land, former proprietor, left Satur
day for California where he will
visit relatives. The Roselands have
moved into the house on the lot
west of the grange hall recently va
cated by Ziral Gillespie. .
Mrs. Elvin Ely and infant daugh
ter Janice Eileen returned home
Saturday from the Hermiston hos
pital. Mr. and Mrs. Ely are very
troud of little Eileen, who was
born Aug. 6. weighing nine pounds
two ounces. Mr. Ely is extra gang
foreman at Condon and was able
to spend several days with his fam
ily after Eileen's arrival.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Allen left Sun
day night for Camp Roberts, Calif,
where they will visit their older
son, Clayton, who is stationed there.
From there the Aliens plan to visit
relatives in that state.
Mr. and Mrs. James Garvison and
sons were week-end visitors at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles An
iieregg. Mrs. Anderegg is Mr. Gar
vison's mother.

ter Cleo returned home from Port
land Tuesday after visiting friends

there for several days.
Word was received by Mrs. Rob
ertson that her younger son, Lyle,
who is with the armed forces in
Europe, will be home soon to spend
a furlough with her.
Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Ely of Mor
gan spent Sunday with the Elvin
Ely family.
George Linn, principal of Board
man school, left Friday for Chicago
to attend several weeks of school.
Pfc Alfred F Turner f the US
air corps stationed at Meridian,
Miss., spent several days of his 24
day furlough with friends in
boardman last week.
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. McFarland
and grandchildren, Joyce and Merle
McFarland of Umatilla, are spend
ing several days at Depoe Bay. Mrs.
McFarland has improved somewhat
since being there.

'Sherry and infant son Ronald are
visiting the Faul DeMauro family,
while Bernie is on vacation.
Mrs. Wiley Brown returned home ,
after being taken to The Dalles I
hospital with heart trouble.

tle" Charles Marshall, who have
been working with Vernie Jarell
Construction, returned to Boardman
this week after completing a job
in Idaho.
