8 Heppner Gazette Water Heaters on List of "Firsts" One of the American housewife's first articles for replacement in the home or new purchase when house hold Roods are again on the mar ket is the water heater. This con- elusion has been arrived at through a postwar survey and during the week the Hpppner Hardware and Electric cmpany has been informed by P. L. Fowler, general manager of the Fowler Manufacturing com pany, that the new northwest plant in Portland is completed and ready to supply electric water heaters for the Heppner area as soon as materials and manpoer permit. At present electric water heaters may be ordered only through pri ority, but families may place their orders beforehand to assure the earliest possible delivery. Miss Hager is the bride-elect of Major Clayton Shaw of Portland who has Just returned to the States after nearly four years in the south Pacific. The young couple met on the Oregon State compus when they were students there. Hostesses for the party were Mrs. Len Gilman, Mrs-. Harlan McCurdy Jr. and Mrs. Willard Blake. Mrs. Charles Vaughn and Mrs. Earl Gilliam were hostesses for a miscellanous shower for Miss Ha ger at the Vaughn home Wednes day evening. Twenty guests were present and bridge was played with Mrs. Grace Nickerson winning first prize. Miss Hager received many gifts from those assembled in her honor.
