A letter from Mrs. John Skuzes-
ki informs this newspaper that;
they have moved to Carson, Wash.,
where , they own property and will
make their permanent home. Since
leaving Heppner the Skuzeskis
have been in San Francisco but
because of Mr. Skuzeski's health
thought it best to get out of the
city. They purchased property at
Carson, some time before leaving
Heppner and will take possession
this week-end. Mrs." Skuzeski sent
greetings to their many Morrow
County friends.
JOINS HONORARY SOCIETY
Mrs. Verle Frederickson of Hepp
ner has been elected to Omicron
Pi Omega, an honorary social or-'
ganization for students at the Ore
gon College of Education, Mon
mouth, according to information
coming from the college this week.
Miss Margaret Giliis, county pub
will spend a month in Portland,
lie health nurse, is on vacation and
Newport and Delake.
Mr. and Mrs. John Graham and
son Michael of Salem and Sgt. Wil
liam Burchell of Portland were
guests last week of their sister-in-law,
Mrs. Ed Burchell.
Sgt. Don Rowe, home on an em
ergency 30-day furlough, spent a
few days in Heppner at the home
of Rev. and Mrs. Clifford Noble and
his little daughter. After spending
Friday and Saturday here he went
to The Dalles to .visit his mother
who is ill in a hospital there. He
will return to have more time-with,
his little girl.
After spending 25 months in the
south Pacific, Wilford Plumondore
is home for 30 days, arriving Sun
day. He flew from .the island of
Luzon to San Francisco.
Sgt and Mrs. John McRoberts are
visiting this week at the F. H.
Prock home.
i Pfc Ray Patterson is visiting at
the home of his sister. Mrs. Elmer
Palmer.

NEW AAA CLERK
Mary Kay Blake has accepted
the position of office clerk in the
Triple A office, succeding Harriet
Hager, resigned. Miss Blake was a
member of the 1945 graduating class
at Oregon State college and is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Blake of Heppner. Miss Hager,
whose marriage is scheduled for
the near future held the position
for four years.
Phil Griffin is home from the
hospital in Portland where he has
been receiving treatment for some
time. While not able to engage in
farm work he is acting in the cap
acity of supervisor during the har
vest season.
J. R. Forden of Hood River and
his daughter. Miss Eleanor Forden
of Portland were guests over the
week-end at the George Corwin
home. The guests are Mrs. Corwin's
father and sister. Mrs. Forden has
been here a few weeks and stayed
on for a while longer after the oth
er guests returned to their homes.
Mrs. Forden is recovering from a
serious illness.
Mrs. Joe Hughes is expecing her
sister. Mrs. R. B. McKeown and son
Johnny to arrive Friday to visit
at the Hughes home over Sunday.
They are on their way home from
eastern points where they visited
Mrs. McKeown's daughters. They
reside in Sacramento.
