Many people were grieved ,at the
Passing of Clarence Robertson last
Tuesday evening, July 3, after suf
fering a heart attack. He was .born
in Portland, Ore. March 17, 1883.
He was married to Effie Irvin at
Monument, March 27, 1906 and to
this union seven children were
born. Mr. Robertson came to Grant
county at the age of six and until
four years ago, resided in or near
Monument. He was an active raem
ber of the Advent church of Board
man and an interested member of
Greenfield grange. Those surviving
we his- wife, Effie Robertson of
Boardman, Zirl Robertson of Port
land, Dick Robertson of Boardman,
Louis Robertson of Pilot Rock, Ro
zela Rosa Robertson of Portland,
Leonard in the navy and Lyle in
the army in the European theater.
One brother, John, Portland and 11
grandchildren also survive. The Ro
bertsons were enjoying a reunion
with their children, with the ex
ception of Lyle, while Leonard was
at home on leave. Funeral services
were conducted by Harry Thorpe
Thursday afternoon at Monument.
Fransces Skoubo enjoyed a visit
with her brother Edward Friday
while enroute to .Pendleton by
train. Edward was returning t Ft.
Bennng, Ga. after completing the
2-month bond tour in . the north
west with the show "Here's Your
Infantry."
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gardner, Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Kunze and grand
sons and Mr. and Mrs. I. Skoubo
and Fransces were dinner guests of
Ralph Wasmer on the Fourth of
July.
Mrs .A. Agee returned home last

ther Pfc Jack Miles who had been
a prisoner of war in Germany for
several months, returned to enjoy
a 60 day leave with his parents.
Jack said he must have drawn a
lucky number to be where he is,
although he was wounded in both
arms.
Dan Ransier, who is water mas
ter in Boardman reported an elk
was found in the main canal Tues
day morning trying to escape the
animal soon gave up and drowned
before the game warden arrived. It
was found in the canal between
Miles and Veeleys turn in boxes.
Mr. and Mrs. I. Skoubo were very
happy to communicate with their
son Lt. Ralph Skoubo Sunday eve
ning by telephone from Tacoma
where he was awaiting reassign
ment. Ralph hopes to be home by
the middle of the week.

enjoying a two week vacation with
his family.
William Harrington was taken to
St. Anthony's hospital in Pendle
ton Sunday evening by Art Allen
after a bad heart attack.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe and
family of Union visited friends in
Boardman the past week while
Nate received dental treatments in
