Notice is hereby given that an election will be held at 2 p. m. on Monday, the 18th day of June, 1945, in School District Number 1 of Morrow County, State of Oregon, at the City Hall in said school dis trict, for the purpose of submitting to the legal voters of said district the question of increasing the tax levy for the year 1945 over the amount limited by section 11, arti cle XI, of the Constitution of Ore gon. The reasons for increasing such levy are: Increased cost of operat ing schools and for special im provement fund. Bob is a baker on the Luce. He is a gradu ate of Boardman high and enlisted in the navy soon after graduating. Mr. and Mrs. Miles have four sons in the service, Fred, merchant ma rines, Ross on Okinawa, Jack, a former prisoner of the Germans who is expected home soon, and Bob Miles. Lt. Ted Wilson who is an instruc tor, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Wilson. Ted landed on the flight strip in a returned Sunday from Santa Ana Calif to return to his base in Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Art Allen returned from Tacoma where they had wit nessed the graduation of their son Clayton Allen who was a former student at Boardman. Mrs. Kobow accompanied the Aliens to Board man to visit friends for several days. Mrs. Kobow was a former teacher in Boardman. She returned to her home Monday by bus. Mr. and Mrs. Bob McLouth are the parents of a baby girl, born in the Hermiston hospital last week. Shirley Peck left for Yakima Saturday to visit her grandparents. The Boardman community can nery opened last week under the direction of Mr. Black and Flossie Coats. Schedules' will be posted. Andy Jones visited his mother, Mrs. Blanche Jones on a three-day , pass Sunday. Mrs. A. E. McFailand left by train Monday for Washington D. o. where she will attend a national R. E. A.' meeting, acting with a com mittee of seven. Rude Eskleberry of the navy and his mother and children of Hermis ton visited with the Elvin Ely fam ily Sunday. Marvel Connell has been return ed to McCaw hospital for medical aid after serving in overseas duty. A community farewell potluck dinner was held in the grange hall Thursdy evening for Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lilly and family.
