Sunday from the I. O. O. F. hall in Hardman for Mrs. W. W. Bechdolt who passed away Thursday, April 26 at the family home in Boardman. ' O. Wendell Herbison officiated and music was provided by Mrs. Robert Walker and Miss Marie Barlow. Arrange ments were in charge of Phelps Funeral Home. Jennie Simpson was born Sept. 9, 1869 at Shebance, HI. She married Will W. Bechdolt on April 12, 1898, and they came west that fall, locat ing on a homestead near Hardman. In later years they moved to Hepp ner to educate their sons, and in 1932 bought a place at Boardman. During their residence there Mrs. Bechdolt was a faithful worker in the Community church as well as taking part in civic affairs. Surviving are the husband and two sons, Archie Bechdolt of Hard man and Adrian Bechdolt,of Board man, a sister, Mrs. E. J. Merrill of Heppner, and two brothers, Bay and Sherrie Simpson of Indiana. White ' as representative of the Standard Oil company at lone. Al though White took over on March 11, official announcement was de layed pending receipt of advertis ing copy which may be found in this issue of the Gazette Times, and which was placed by J. E. West, branch manager for Standard at The Dalles. White is no stranger to the peo ple of lone and vicinity. He spent nine years with the Braden-Bell Tractor and Equipment company at Arlington and is an expert in diesel and automotive equipment work. He has a family of four children. HAS BIRTHDAY PARTY Twelve litle girls were invited to help Lola Paderg celebrate her 10th birthday Tuesday, May 1. Games were played and refrehments of ice cream, cookies and pop were served at the Elkhorn restaurant. Later the group attended the theater. Benge home at the cor ner of Willow and Gale streets is undergoing some improvement work that has enhanced the ap pearance materially. First, the cork elm trees along the front of the property which were gradually up rooting the sidewalk, were cut down. Next a new roof was put on the house, followed with a coat of paint, "brightening up the comer where you are," as it' were. A SHORT VACATION Miss Dorotha Wilson spent Satur day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Wilson. She came up Friday night from Portland and returned to the city Saturday night. Elton Fraser was surprised at a farewell party given to him by the I. H. S. student body before he left for the armed services last week. Ervilla Moore of Hermiston was a week-end visitor of Eunice and Shirley Miller. Three one-act plays were pre sented in the Irrigon school gym, May 3. An old time barn dance at the gym this Saturday evening. Mod ern and old time music, carnival booths. Everybody welcome. Mrs. Albert Kline returned from the Pendleton hospital this week. Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Robertson and Earl Rand from Portland were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Batie Rand and Mrs Mary Rand this week. Lovetta White and Clara Fraser were Pendleton visitors Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bedwell from Sunnyside Wash, were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Emery Bedwell this week. Pfc William Rutledge is visiting his mother, Mrs. Lillian Rutledge.
