FAMILY GATHERS IN
FOR BIRTHDAY PARTY
Members of the R. E. Alstott
family gathered at the R. E. Alstott
Jr. home in Hermiston Sunday to
observe the elder Allstott's 70th
birthday anniversary. Due to one
cause and another some of his chil
dren could not be present. Of these
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Paderg had
car trouble on the road and had to
return home; Mr. and Mrs. Johnny
Bray were absent due to the illness
of their baby but their other three
children were present; and Mr. nd
Mrs. Roy Lieuallen and daughter,
Aloha Painter, were unable to
leave their cafe business in lone
for the day. Fredrick Painter and
Don Alstott, both in the navy, were
other members of the family un
able to be present.
Mrs. Otis Alstott had the honor
of baking the huge birthday cake
which formed the center of interest
in a dinner of meats, salads, cakes
pies and jello salad and other deli
cacies.
Despite his 70 years, Mr. Allstott
is doing his bit in the war effort.
He is foreman of the lumber piling
gang at the munitions dump and
declares if they would give him
some young men he'd show the
world a real lumber piling jobj
Most of his crew run from 50 on up.

MIDNIGHT SATURDAY
Truck owners are reminded that
