Voile, Luella Minick and Beth Russell were business visitors in Pendleton last Wednesday. Bert Deter and Mr. and Mrs. Dan H'll were visitors to Pendleton Thursday. Sam JJmiker has returned to his work at Ordnance after a few days illness. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Frederick son of Stanfield were Irrigon visit ors Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Noels made a business trip to Portland Thurs day. First Lt. Earl Stewart left for Fort Sills, Okla. after v'siting with his mother, Mrs. Emma Stewart, and friends here. Mrs. Sam Umiker received a tel egram from her brother, Frank Leicht, stating that he expects to leave sometime soon for overseas. Vernon Dale Stewart, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. McCoy, is Aositing his grandparents and friends here. Miss LaVelle Markham made a fly'ng visit from Seattle, flying be cause it was so short, with her par ens, Mr. and Mrs. Markham. She had about 12 hours at home. Fred Houghton left Wednesday for Portland where he will receive medical treatment. Mrs. Houghton went down Saturday evening to be with him over the week-end.. Mrs. Donald Houghton returned to Denver Colo. Thursday evening after spending several days with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Houghton. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Thompson and attends the Colorado university in Denver. Mrs. Wm. Graybeal was hostess at a b'rthday party in honor of her daughter Jean Friday evening.. A number of friends spent a pleasant evening. Rev. G. R. Schneider left for Springfield, Mo. Sunday night. He expects to return from this busi ness trip Wednesday. . Mrs. Joy Weigand from Pasco visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sm'th and family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Moore were business visitors in Portland this week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Noels went to Portland on business Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. John Voile were in Heppner the past week-end. Mrs. Dan Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Jones were in Tacoma the past week. Miss Luella Minnick is recover ing from a severe case of tonsilitis. Mrs. Tom Godwin and son Ro gers of Ellensburg visited Mrs. Martha Ferril this week-end. Mrs. J. Graybeal celebrated her birthday Sunday at the home of R. M. McCoy. Irrigon high school now has a school paper, The Comet, and a regular class Jn journalism undei the direction of Mrs. Robert Smith. Patty Markham is editor of The Comet and there are reporters from each class covering class activities, sports, assemblies and general hap penings.
