Housewives Urged
To Salvage Fats
Home Econimist of the U. S.
department of agriculture urge
housewives to continue to help the
fat salvage program. Salvaged fats
go into a pool of tallows and greas
es .which supplies raw material for
soap and industrial uses, including
lubricants, synthetic rubber and
other rubber processing, and textile
and leather products. As long as im
ports of fats are below normal and
military and other unusual demands
are at high levels, the acquisition
of every additional pound of re
claimed fats and the avoidance of
waste in the use of products made
from fats, are genuine contributions
to our whole war economy.
Housewives are - urged to strain
fat before turning it in. Recent re
ports indicate an increasing percent
age of non-fat material, including
chunks of lean meat pieces of bone,
and other material. The presence of
meat in the salvaged fats causes
deterioration.

Scouts Annual Meet
Continued from First Page
of the parents in carrying on the
Boy Scout movement.
Raymond Parrish, home on fur
lough from an air base in "south
ern Texas, advised the Scouts to
learn all they can from scouting
as it may come in handy some
time just as it is today for thous
ands of former Boy Scouts now
in the service of their country.
Jack O'Connor, manager of the
J. C. Penney company store, ad
monished the boys to learn every
thing they can about Scouting, and
not to rush through it. He urged
a movement to extend Scouting so
that boys would not drop it when
they get into high school but car
ry it on even after leaving high
school.
K. A. House was master of ceremonies.
