Mr. and Mrs. Carl Haddox left for Portland Monday to attend the funeral for Mrs. Haddox's brother Elmer Benefiel who died Sunday after a long illness. He was a" vet eran of World War I. Miss La Verne Duus of Pendleton arrived home Saturday afternoon. She graduated from St. Anthony's hospital Thursday. She went back Sunday afternoon as she is working there now. Robert Larson S 2c is visiting from Farragut Idaho where he has been in training. 'flfl The Irrigon basketball team went to Heppner Friday evening. The Heppner first team won 30-20 and Heppner second team won 17-7. Mrs Milton Bailey. Alice Hoag lund and Grace Gollyhorn were Heppner visitors Friday. Mrs. Gus Nikander and Mrs. Rit chie of Heppner were in Irrigon Wednesday. Mrs. Roy Minnick got home from Portland where she has been with Mr Minnick who is in a hospital there. Herman Duus had. word Monday that his father J. C. Duus had died at his home in Estacada. Mr. Duus was 89 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Duus left to attend the fu neral which was held at Estacada Thursday. Avery Shoun returned from The Dalles Monday evening where he had been for medical treatment. Mrs. Nellie Netter and three children left for their home at Au rora after spending a few days here with her sister Mrs. Ruth Umiker and family. She was a former res ident here. Mrs. Jensen left for her home in San Francisco after spendinig some months here with her daughter, Mrs. William Slate. Mr and Mrs. Jennings of Pendle ton arrived Sunday to " spend the day with the Milton Baileys. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bailey and Milton Jr. and Miss Wilsox, Miss Kennedy, and Miss Eddy went to Pasco Sunday. They brought Mrs. Bailey's sister, Mrs. Kenneth Mat Baile's sister, Mrs. Kenneth Mat son back for a visit here. OCCUPY NEW APARTMENT Mrs. Muriel Rice and son La Verne Van Marter moved the past week-end to their new apartment on the ground floor of the McCaleb building made over by Frank W. Turner. Mrs. Archie Padberg presided at the tea table which was adorned with lace cloth, candles and flowers. Army decora tions prevailed about the rooms.
