FOUR GIRL SCOUTS ATTAIN
SECOND CLASS RATING
At the regular meeting Nov. 15
of Troop 3 of the Girl Scouts, four
of the members were awarded sec
ond class rating. Marjorie Bauman,
Mariene DuBois, Barbara Jean
Stout and Patricia Lawrence were
the quartet receiving the advance
ment. Troop 3 meets each Wednesday
afternoon at the parish house of All
Saints Episcopal church. Mrs. J. L.
Hamlin is leader and Mrs. Ture
Peterson is the new assistant lead
er of thie group. There are 17 girls
in the troop.
"EXAMINER COMING
A traveling examiner of opera-
. tors and chauffeurs is scheduled to
arrive in Keppner Tuesday, Nov.
28 and will be on duty at the court
house between the hours of 10 a.
m. and 4 p. m.

FORMER 3-C ENROLLEE VISITS
Clarence Hauf of the; U. S. Army
Transport service has been a guest
for several days at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. John Fuiten. Hauf was a
cook at the Camp , Heppner CCC
and entered the service upon leav
ing here three yean ago.

Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Stephens had

There was a schoolmasters meet
ing in the Irrigon school house
Monday. With ell of the surround
ing districts represented. The school
board was also invited. The high
school girls helped serve the ban
quet.
James Henderon was not able to
pacs h;s physical examinations for
service and has returned.
Mrs. Birdie Stewart of Island
City arrived Saturday to visit her
parents, the R. M. McCoys and her
brother Mack McCoy, MMlc who
is leaving Tuesday for California
to a port of embarkation. He has
been visiting his parents and other
relatives here.
Miss Ella Mae Grim went to La
Grande to spent Thanksgiving with
Betty Acock, student nurse there.
Mrs. Johnson of Idaho is visiting
her granddaughters. Mrs. Howard
Gollyhorn and Eula Amis.
