Vincent Price, Bernadette Jennifer Jones remains unshaken in
her flaming faith and courage. The filmization of Franz Werfel's
"The Song of Bernadette" comes to the Star Theater in Heppner
Sept. 13 and 14 as a special roadshow attraction.
TO MEET SEPT 15
Members of All Saints Episcopal
women's auxiliary have decided to
hold the September business meet
ing, Friday Sept. 15 at the parish
house. This date is one week later
than the usual meeting due to the
union missionary meeting on Sept.
8.

RETURNS FROM SCHOOL
Miss Dorotha Wilson returned
Saturday from Eugene where she
recently completed preliminary re
quirements for nurse's training. She
will go to Portland in a month or
so to enter the Multnomah county
hospital for practical training.
BOYS VACATIONING
Glen Coxen and Tom Hughes are
spending a few days in Portland
taking a vacation before the open
ing of school. They have worked at
the Heppner Box factory during
the summer.
CHORAL CLUB MEETING
The Women's Choral club will
resume rehearsals Monday evening,
Sept. 11. Practice will begin at 7
o'clock at the home of the director,

GUEST AT TAMBLYNS
Cpl Ernest Trachsel, veteran of
the Aleutian campaign, is a guest
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Tamblyn. Trachsel was an enrollee
in the Civilian Conservation Corps
and was located at Heppner a few
years ago.
TAKING VACATION
Kev. and Mrs. Bennie Howe and
their daughter, Mrs. Don Romine,
left Wednesday morning for Saiem
and the coast on a short vacation
trip prior to the opening of school.
Mrs. Romine will teach in the pri
mary department of the Heppner
school ths year.
RETURNS FROM EUGENE
Mrs G. A. Sanders returned today
from Eugene where she spent the
past week visiting and taking a rest
from duties at the Heppner Bakery.
Her niece, Miss Baibara Wicks,
who came from Portland to help
Mr. Sanders for the week, will re
turn to her home tomorrow:
