FORMER IIEPPNEIt RESIDENT
PASSES IN WASHINGTON
Nellis S. Phelps, 67, son of Ed
win and Mary Phelps, and brother
of the late Royal Phelps, was for
many years a resident of Heppner
and Lexington prior to moving to
Kelso, Wash, in 1923, passing away
there June 16. 1944.
Mr. Phelps was born at New
port, Oref April 8, 1877. He was
married to Delia Reaney, daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew
Reaney of Lexington. He is sur
vived by his widow, Delia, a dau
ghter, Mrs. W. N. Balderston, and
granddaughters, Yvonne and Delo
rea of Longview, Wash, and a sis
ter, Mrs. Eva Hil of Heppner.
Funeral services were held in
the Ditlevson Funeral home in Kel

Mrs. Royal Phelps of Heppner, Mr.
and Mrs. Karl Miller, Mrs. William
Budden of Salem, Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Reaney of Vancouver,
Mr. and Mrs. William Luntsford of
Kelso, a nephew, Morris Reaney of
Salem, and nieces Mrs. J. Wolfe
of Vancouver, Mrs. R. Williams of
Longview and Mrs. A. Carr of
Castle Rock, Wash.
Interment was made in the
Longview Memorial park, with
many beautiful floral, tributes

A meeting of the Morrow County
Hunters and Anglers association
has been called (for 7:30 this eve
ning at the Elks hall.

ing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Da
vid P. Phelan. Young Phelan, who
has seen considerable service where
tilings are doing, will remain here
until July 16.
HOME ON VISIT
Don Bennett is visiting his par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bennett this
week. He is home on graduation
leave, having recently finished a
course ait the University of Cali
fornia at Los Angeles. He will re
port at Oakland for six weeks work
in the navy supply school before
going on to Harvard for four
months after which he will re
ceive his commission as a supply
officer. .
