NOTICE OF 1944-45 BUDGET MEETING
In accordance with the provisions of the "Local Budget Law". (Sections 110-1201 to 110-1215, O.C.L.A., as amended), notice is hereby given that the budget committee of borrow
County, Oregon, in compliance with said law, prepared and adopted on May 16, 1944, the budget estimates for Morrow County, Oregon, for the ensuing fiscal year July lism to
June 30, 1945,. as set forth in the accompanying schedules. All persons are hereby notified that on Thursday, the 30th lay of June, 1944, at 10 A. M., in the County Judges otnce
at the Court House in Heppner, Oregon, said budget estimates may be discussed with the County Court, the levying board for said Morrow County, Oregon, and any person sub
ject to the proposed tax levy or tax levies will be heard in favor of or against said tax levy or tax levies or any part thereof.
The outsandmg indebtedness of Morrow County, Oregon, at May 1, 1944, consisted of $250,000.00 in Serial Road Bonds

her daughter Barbara who has
completed a year's study at "Mary
of the Valley" Catholic academy at
Beaverton.
Some of the lone people are going
around in circles again. Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Morgan are preparing
to move into . the Minnie Forbes
home recently occupied by the Ha
rold Boners; Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Pettyjohn will move into their
home vacated by the Morgans. Miss
Bonnie Smith and father Robert
Smith arrived Sunday from Port
land to assist in moving their house
hold goods from the Walter Corley
house to the house now owned by
the Smiths and which is being va
cated by the Pettyjohns. Mr. and
Mrs. Corley plan to occupy their
own house.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Linn and dau
ghter are now moving into an
apartment in the Park hotel.
Pvt George Griffitth of the Ma
rine corps stationed at Camp Pen
dleton, San Diego surprised his fa
mily when he arrived Monday for
a 15 day leave.
June study meeting of the Topic
club will be held Friday afternoon
at 2:15 with the hostesses, Mesdam
es Lena Lundel, Gladys Ely, Kath
ryn Yarnell and Irene Swanson.
There will be services at the Lu
theran church in Gooseberry Tues
day, June 13 at 8 p. m., also a talk
to the Luther league; and services
at 10:30 a. m. June 14 with pot luck
dinner at noon and afternoon ser
vices at 1 p. m. The services will
be conducted by Rev. Walton
Kempe of Astoria and Rev. Phillip
Ellman of Portland. The public is
cordially invited to hear these men.
MAKES ASSEMBLY REPORT
At the regular Rebekah meeting
Friday evening, Mrs. N. D. Bailey
made a report on the state as
sembly at Portland where she was
a delegate. A fine assembly was
held and Mrs. Bailey's report was
greatly appreciated by tne mem
bership. ' ' -.
WILL HOLD ELECTION
The American Legion auxiliary
will hold its regular meeting in the
Oddfellows hall Monday evening.
Election of officers will be held at
that time.

EXAMINER COMING
A traveling examiner of opera
tors and chauffers is scheduled to
arrive in Heppner' Tuesday, June
13, 1944, and will be on duty at the
court house between the hours of
10 a. m. and 4 p. m., according to a
recent announcement released from
the secretary of state's office.
