A V v ( I HEAVY HOG SUPPORT TO END The WFA support prices for live hogs weighing from 270 to 330 pounds will be terminated April 15. After that "date support prices will again apply only to good and choice barrows and gilts weighing from 200 to 270 pounds. Extension of price support to hogs weighing 270 to 300 pounds went into effect Dec 23, 1943, and to hogs weighing up to 330 pounds last Jan. 27, to encourage orderly marketing and to protect farmers from heavy dis counts for hogs over 270 pounds. MAKING DISTRICT SURVEY Ediward Chidsey and a crew of surveyors are in the county check ing projects to come under the state highway commission's post-war program. Chidsey, a former Hepp ner resident, has been with the state highway department for more than 20 years. Senator from Ore gon for the long term, announced Saturday that his campaign will be managed by Leo Smith. No relation to Edgar, Leo Smith is a Portland attorney. He is now serving his third term in the state legislature, but is not a candidate for re-election to that office. In announcing the appointment. Edgar Smith pointed out that Leo Smith has been active in democra tic party affairs for several years. He is president of the Willamette Democratic sociey, past member of the executive committee of the Multnomah Democratic central committee and chairman of the state legislature interim commit tee to study the merit system for state employes. Leo Smith said that the Edgar W. Smith for senator campaign of fices will be opened in Portland soon.
