Getting Well Under
Way at Lexington

The Red Cross drive is getting
well under way this week. Every
one is urged to contribute gener
ously to help put , Lexington ove
the top as has been done in the
past.
A stork shower was held in the
Ladies Aid room Friday for Mrs.
Johnny Hartman, nee Mae Rauch.
The honoree received many lovely
gifts. The military motif was car
ried out in the decorations. Delici
ous refreshments were served to
about 25 guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Laurel Ruhl return
ed from Portland the last of the
week. While there little Dickie Ruhl
was stricken with appendicitis and
spent most of the time in the
hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Munkers
spent Tuesday and Wednesday in
Pendleton and La Grande.
Carol Ann, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Palmer, was quite ill
at her home below Lexington the
past week.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hicks of Lore
Rock visited at the Ed Grant home
this week. Mrs. Hicks is a sister of
Mr. Grant's.
Patty O'Harra arrived Sunday
from U. of O. to spend her spring
vacation with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs Newt O'Harra.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Jones and
daughter of Walla Walla and Joe
Clark of Arlington visited over the
week-end at the Ted McMillan
home.
Miss Dona1 Barnett was ill at her
home this week but is now im
proved. Mr. and Mrs. E. R Attebury who
are employed in a Portland wr
plant spent the week-end visiting
their children at the George Allyn
home.
Baptismal services were held at
the Chursh of Christ Monday night,
following preaching services by Ev
angelist Miller and Rev. Waddell of
lone. Those baptised were Harold
Hoffman, Mrs. Truman Messenger
Sr. and sons Truman and Franklyn
and daughter Rena June.
Mrs. Lou Bradley returned Wed
nesday from a week's visit in Port
land and Kelso. Mrs. Broadly sold
her house recently to Rowen C.
May. The new owner contemplates
completely remodeling the house.
Don Pointer accompanied by Ed
ward Rice took a plane from Pen
dleton to Portland' Sunday to get
Mrs. Pointer and son who - have
been visiting there several day.
Mrs. Oscar Breeding was called to
Spray this past week to care for he) ,
mother, Mrs. Cora Steagall who

Ida. arriver Thursday to visit with
his uncle Kenneth Frase.- and fam
ily. He left Friday.
Clifford Rucker has joined the
navy. He is 17 but had not complet
ed high school.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Musgrave of
Hefpner visited her sister Mrs. Wes
Isom and family last week-end,
Mr. and Mirs. C. Eggars spent
several days last week visiting her
runt Mrs. W. C. Isom.
Calvin Allen passed his examin
ations and will leave for the navy
when called.
Donald Miller sent word to his
folks that he is attending a univer
sity :.n Wisconsin. He is in the ra
dio department of the navy.

pital at Prairie City. He spent some
time last year iri the hospital but
has been at home until recently.
Wiley Benefiel has been promot
ed to chief warrant officer. He is
