Rev H. N. Waddell of Nyssa has
been called by the Cooperative
church of lone. He will begin his
services aa pastor as soon as he
has moved his family and household
goods here.
The Rebekah P. N. G, club held
a silver tea and food and needle
work sale Saturday, Nov. 13. The
amount raised was $52.90.
Topic club met with Mrs,
Milton Morgan for the study meet
ing last Friday. The book. "Mrs.
Parkington" was reviewed by Mes
dames Chas. Swanson, Garland
land Swanson and Victor Rietmann.
The social meeting this month will
be held at the Masonic hall on the
evening of Nov. 20 with Mesdames
Garland Swanson, Milton Morgan,
Lloyd Morgan, Victor Rietmann
Charles Swanson as hostesses.
Gills' league of lone Hi gave the
football boys their annual banquet
Friday evening at the school house.
Alumni and otheer friends of the
students were invited to a party
held after the banquet. All report
a very enjoyable time.
A number of young people gath
ered at the Holub home Friday
evening to give the newly married
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holub a grand
charivari.
A F, Nelson suffered a stroke
Nov. 7 and was rushed to Portland
for medical care.
A potluck supper has been plan
ned for the Eastern Star and Ma
sonic members and their immedi
ate families on Dec. 1 at 6;30 pre
ceding the evening meeting of the
orders.
Mrs. Kittie Turner of La Grande
is visiting her sister Mrs. Elmer
Griffith of Morgan. Mrs Turner
will go from here to Tacoma where
she plans to spend the winter with
her children.
Mrs. Echo Palmateer has booght
the former Willard Blake property
in lone.
The football game Friday after
noon between the juniors and se
niors and freshmen and sopho
mores was won by the upper
classmen, to the tune of 12-0. This
is the last game of the season.
Basketball pracice begins next
week.
Mrs. H. E. Yarnell underwent a
major operation on Tuesday of last
week and is reported progressing
satisfactorily.
Mrs. Nettie Lundy returned to
her home in Portland last Thurs
day after making a week's visit
with relatives here.
Mrs. Alice Wiles enjoyed a visit
with her daughter and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Lester Britton and son
Francis of Tygh valley. They ar
rived late Wednesday and returned
home Thursday evening. Francis is
home on leave from the navy.
Mr. and Mrs Dale Ray visited a
few days in Lyle recently when
they took their daughter Mrs. Les
ter Goodrich and small son home
after a visit here.
Miss Eulanna Seehafer spent a
few days at her home here last
week. Eulanna is employed' in Port
land. The Maranatha club will meet at
the apartment of Miss Helen Lind
say Saturday afternoon.
The Bob Buchanan family has
moved to the Valentine ranch near
Lexington and Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Holub and Mrs. Emma Holub have
moved to a recently purchased
farm beween Echo and Pendleton.
Miss Jane Huston and Mrs. Roy
Lindstrom spent the week-end in
Portland where Miss Huston was
bridesmaid at the wedding of her
cousin Miss Betty Phillips and
George Dietrick at the West Min
ster Presbyetrian church.
H. M. Stiles, superintendent of
the lone schools attended a prin
cipal's' meeting at Salem last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baker re
turned Thursday from a two weeks'
visit in Los Angeles.
Rev. Paul A. Davies of Portland,
superintendent of the Congrega
tional conference of Oregon will
conduct the morning services at
the Cooperative church Nov. 21.
Rev. H. N. Waddell, the new pas
tor, will begin his services on
Nev. 28.
Willows grange H. E. club will
meet for a potluck dinner on Fri
day, Nov. 19 at the grange hall.
Memberg are reminded of the elec
tion of officers and "to bring gifts
to be put in the Christmas bags
for the patients at McCaw hospital
in Walla Walla, and also articles
for the grab bag for the bazaar.
The afternoon will be spent in fix
ing booths for the bazaar to be
held on Saturday, Nov. 27.

Kingsley, who has been working in
the city for several months, had
secured an apartment for them.
