BE4NS FOR BREAKFAST
There is no reason why beans
should not be just as good for
breakfast as for any other1 meal,
but to a lad breaking away from
home customs it seems odd at first
Billy French, son of Mr. and Mrs.
W. H French of Heppner thinks
maybe beans for breakfast once a
week might not be so bad but
when they have a follow up for
dinner and supper it is kind of
rubbing it in. However, he says
the food tastes better since he has
gotten out of detention, and now
that he has made the acquaintance
of some of the fellows he is begin
ning to like navy life. The main
thing bothering the boys ia having
to stand in line and wait. Ship's
service at Camp Bennion offers
candy, ice cream, milk shakes and
other things for the boys to spend
their spare change, and they can
also buy' gifts there.
GILLIAM-DRAKE PARTY
OFF ON BIG ELK HUNT
With a generous load of camp
equipment and food, Len and Earl
Gilliam and Ray Drake set out for
the John Day country where they
will spend 10 days or so hunting
elk. Their destination was not dis
closed further than that it is their
annual retreat and they always
have a real vacation.
A friend of the three men main
tains equipment for handling elk
carcasses and all the hunters have
to do is bag the game that is, all
exept dressing the animals after
the friend gets them into camp.
