Mr. and' Mrs. Kenneth Marshall
and family were cailed to Ellens
burg, Wash'. Saturday by the pass
ing of Mrs. Marshall's mother.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wallace
art the parents of a baby boy born
Tuesday morning in Heppner.
Helen Duvall of The Dalles is vis
iting at the Harry Duvall and El
mer Hunt ' homes.
Cpl. Daniel Dinges left Saturday
night for Camp Howze, Texas, after
spending his furlough here. He was
taken as far as Pendleton by his
parents..
Janet Marquardt of Portland was
in Lexington over the week-end.
Harry Dinges and George Peck

Tuesday.
Alice Griffith left Sunday morn
ing for Spokane where she will
visit relatives. She has been spend
ing the summer at the A. M. Ed
wards home.
Mrs. Arnold Pieper and Mrs.
Kemp Dick and son. are visiting in
Portland.
Freda Breeding of Heppner spent
several days last week with' her
parents. Mr. and Mrs- O. G.
Breeding.
Mr. and IVfcs. T. .R. Burton have
returned from McMinville and are
moving their household goods to
Burbank, Wash., where Mr. Bur
ion will teach this year.
Clarence Buchanan left Tuesday
morning for the induction center
at Fort Douglas. Utah, where he
will report for duty with the army-
Mrs. John Hartman of Heptmer
is visiting her sister, Mrs. Albert
Eetsch.
Mrs. Casha Shaw of Heppner is
visiting at the Art Hunt home.
Jim Wren and James Davis are
now employees of the State High
way department.
Mrs. Iona Galbraith of Dayton,
Wash-, is visiting her mother, Mrs.
Sarah White.

Mrs. Ethel Smith spent a few
days with the Sinice Moores, leav
ing Saturday for Condon, her home.

for Jordan Valley where he is a
government trapper- They have
been working at the ' ordnance
depot.
Mrs. Joy Smith and small son
are visiting her parents-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Smith.
Horace Mulkey and Archie Hill
of Heppner visited the Steagall
family Sunday- '
Mrs. Don Kenny and two chil
dren arrived home Saturday night
after quite a visit in Portland.
Mrs. Hazel Steagall is working
at the El Rancho cafe.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Haberlein vis
ited Grandma Peterson in the Her
miston hospital Sunday.
The Pentecostal church has an
nounced a baptismal ceremony at
the river Sunday evening.

proved. She visited Pendleton Sat
urday accompanied by her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Aldrich.
Charles Markham has been or
dered to report at Heppner Aug. 19.
Mr- and Mrs. Roy Davis and fam
ily have rented the Wes Isom house.
The Hills have been occupying the
house and finished moving Tuesday,
and the Davis's will move in Sun-

Mrs- Walter Wright entertained
Friday in honor of her daughter
Patsy Ann's sixth birthday. . Mrs.
Mairy Coats, Mrs. G. A. Farrens
end Jackie Ball. Mrs. Archie Saling
and daughter Betty were guests.
A chicken dinner, with ice cream
and angel food cake for dessert, was
enjoyed by the group.
Mrs. Al Lovgren gave a party
for the mill ladies Wednesday af
ternoon. Twenty-one persons were
present. Mrs. Lewis Letrace and
daughter and Mrs. Young of Camp
Wetmore also were there.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wright were
in Condon over Sunday visiting
Mrs.' Wright's sister and. a cousin
who resides in Portland.
Elwood Hastings spent the week
end at home from the Orain Wright

Owen Leathers Jr. went to work
in harvest for Clarence Warren.
Erma Scott of Wasco is visiting
her aunt, Mrs. Neal Knighten, this
week.

day in Hsppner on business.
A grange party was held Wed
nesday night in the hall. The eve
ning was spent playing cards and
dancing.
Doris Lilly and Hazel Miller
spent Wednesday in Pendleton
shopping.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hamilton and
family were shopping in The Dalles
Friday.
A double shower was held at the
home of Mrs. Willard Baker Friday
afternoon honoring Mrs. Angelo
Koivisto and Mrs. Mabel Bischke.
A large crowd attended and many
lovely gifts were received by both.
Mrs. Mabel Allen and Gene re
turned home from Weatherby Sat
urday night where they spent the
week visiting Mr. Allen.
Mr .and Mrs. Francis Harter and
friends Saturday and Sunday, They
employed.
Lotus Robinson, night watchman at
Reed's mill was injured last week
by a fall. He will be unable to
work for a week or ten days.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fraters were
visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fraters
in the mountains on Sunday. They
work in Portland and are spend
ing a few days in eastern Oregon.

moved into the back Berger apartment.
Mrs. Bob McLouth and children
of Athena came Friday to spend a
few days visiting at the Gus Mc
Louth home.
Russell DeMauro of Camp Farra

ton this week. Mrs. Nichols will be
remembered as Helen Wells.
