Mr. Crump left Mon day night with a group of draftees for physical examination before en tering the army. Mr and Mrs. Laurel Ruhl and sons were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Art Hunt. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Yamell and daughters were Sunday evening guests of ..Mr. and Mrs. Roy Williams. Mrs. Willie Steagall is expecting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vera Strickler of Lebanon to arrive for the holidays Mr. and Mrs. Charles Breshears were business visitors in Heppner Friday morning. Vernon Warner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Warner, is visiting here. He has been working in Alaska but will report for navy duty soon. Billie Nichols was a guest at the Frank Papineau home Sunday. Jay Haagen of Portland was a business visitor here Monday and Tuesday. Frieda Breeding, oldest daughter of Mr .and Mrs. Oscar Breeding, was operated on in Heppner last Wed nesday for appendkitis She was moved to the Corda Saling home Monday ot convalesce. Skippy Ruhl spent Saturday at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ruhl. Word - has been received that George Tucker is stationed in Camp Joseph T. Robinson, Arkansas. C. C. Carmichael left Monday night to take his physical before entering the army. The dance at the Lexington Grange hall Saturday night was well attended and everyone report ed' a good time. Bililly Nichols and Freddie Papi neau motored to Pendleton Satur day evening. Jean Barnhouse is visiting at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. S. G. McMulan. Mrs Vernon Scott spent . Tues day and Wednesday in Portland. Jerry stayed at the Laurel Ruhl home while the other son, Timmy v'sited his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sprinkel in Heppner. Carla Lee Whillock spent Satur day night at the home of her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Breshears. A Christmas pageant was pre sented by local students in the school house Friday afternoon with a large audience attending. Besides the pageant, Christmas songs were sung by various groups. Santa Claus came and presented each child with a sack of candy, nuts and oranges. The different rooms exchanged gifts and school was dismissed for the Christmas holidays to resume Dec. 28 with one day off for New Years. Gene Bissinger of Pendleton was here Friday and Saturday. He is serving in the navy. He was for merly a mechanic for Jackson Im plement company. Vera Whillock spent Thursday af ternoon in Heppner. Skippy and Dicky Ruhl and Michael Lee Gray spent Wednes day at the Vernon Scott home. Mr. and Mrs. Laurel Ruhl, Art Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hunt, Mr and Mrs. Otto Ruhl, Mr. and Mrs. William . Van Winkle and Mr. and Mrs. George Peck were among local people attending the funeral in Heppner of Louis Fredrickson last week. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rauch and family spent last Saturday in Heppner. Mjrs. Eldon Padburg visited this vicinity this week. Eldon was ex pected home Monday night for a few days visit before going into the army. Dan Dinges left Monday night for army duty.
