Norman Bergsrom a student at
P. U. suffered an attack of meas
les just before Thanksgiving, so
was not able to come home.
Miss Freda Ball spent the week
end at home with her father, Elmer
Ball. She is attending school in
Estacada. '
Mrs. Carl P. Linn and daughter
Leeta spent the week-end at the
P. J. Linn home. - They returned
Sunday to Grass Valey where Mrs.
Linn is teaching the first and
ond grades.
Mrs. Omar Rietmann spent
Thanksgiving in Portland, the
guest of her daugher, Mrs. Howard
Nottage.
Mrs. Sanford Nance had as her
guest, her mother, Mrs. CDell of
McMinnville.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Swanson had
as their Thanksgiving guests their
daughter, Mrs. Elmo' McMillian
and daughter Beverly of Salem,
and their daughter-in-law, Mrs.
Norman Swanson and little son of
Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Inskeep and
little son spent Thanksgiving with
relatives in McMinnvlle.
Mrs. Franklin Linstrom and son
Roy returned Thursday from The
Dalles where Roy has been receiv
ing treatment for an eye, seriously
injured while he was playtng with
other children.
The marriage of Miss Jane Fitz
piatrick, daughter of M. F. Fitz
patrick of lone, and Pvt. Richard
Lundell, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.
R. Lundell, of lone, occurred at
twelve noon, Nov. 15 at St. Jos
eph's rectory in Yakima, Wash.
Rev. Father Joseph Balfe read the
service. The bride was lovely in a
white satin gown with floor length
veil and crown of seed pearls. She
carried a white prayer book, with
white gardenias, chrysanthemums
and streamers. Miss Anna Marie
Johnson, cousin of the bride, was
the bridesmaid and wore a floor
length gown of white georgete and
bouquet of pastel chrysanthemums
a small blue hat and carried a
tied with blue ribbons. Pvt. Will
iam Kirby was best man. Relatives
b L-tending the wedding were Miss
Cassie McDevit and Mr. and Mrs.
E. R. Lundell of lone, Mrs. Mary
Johnson and daughter, Anna Marie
of Heppner, and Edward McDevitt
of Seattle. The wedding party en
joyed a dinner at the Hotel Don
naly in Yakima after the cere

and daughter, Margaret Anne, of
Cecil, spent Thanksgiving in Salem
with friends. They were joined
there by their son Marion, who is
a junior at Oregon State.
Krebs Brothers' sheep were
brought home from summer range
at Browning, Mont. Tuesday. Be
cause of congested conditions on
the railroads, the sheep were five
days on the way. . .
OARDMAN NEWS
The teachers left Wednesay for
their homes for Thanksgiving. Miss
Golden went to Eugene; Miss An
derson to Blalock; Miss Merchant
to McMinnville and Mrs. McCar
tin to Pendleton. Miss Nichols re
mained in Boardman.
Mrs. Dan Ransier and Mrs. Nick
Faler and Mrs. Anna Skoubo spent
Tuesday in Hermiston.
Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Harter and
family motored to Portand Wed
nesday for Thanksgiving. H. Lech-'
ner went with them and "took the
bus on to Seattle.
Mr. and Mrs. A. LaMar and
family have moved to Everett and
will live there while he is working
on a construction job.
Miss Mardell Gorham who is a
student at Marylhurst, spent the
week-end with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Gorham.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Ely spent
Thanksgiving at the home of Mr.
Ely's parents n lone.
Don Potts wrecked his car Thurs
day night between Hermiston and
Umatilla but no one was hurt.
G. Huffman surprised friends
Friday when he arrived home from
an army camp in California. He
has been released on honorable
discharge.
- Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Walpole and
children spent the week-end in
Portland.
Joe Enzler, last year's high school
teacher and athletic coach, has re
ported to naval officers' training
school at Northwestern unversity.
After completng the course he wil
be commissioned as ensign for deck
duty. Mr. Enzler has been employ
ed at the shipyards while waiting
to ba ealkd.
Mr .:. Francis Harter's mother of
Portland returned with them after
Thanksgiving.
Mrs. R. B. Rand is in Boise with
her husband. Mary Ann and Nancy
are wiith their grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Mike Healy.
Mrs. Claude Meyers passed away
at her home Monday after a long
illness. Mrs. Meyers had lived on
the Boarman project for years.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Barlow and
daughter left Sunday for Wapato
where they will stay until Wed
nesday. Earl Cramer is working at the U.
O. D. fie will return to Spokane
to shear sheep after the new year.
