call attention to the fact that the

capacities during his tenure of
residence in Morrow county. Also
the grandfather feels much too

Training Offered for
Rural Ministry
Oregon State College Students
planning to study for the ministry or
other types of religious work in rur
al areas can now take a degree
course in agriculture which will
meet seminary requirements, Dean
William A. Schoenfeld points out.
This pre -theological course serves
somewhat the same purpose in ad
vance of seminary training as pre
medical courses do for medical
schools.
John H. Reisner of New York, ex
ecutive secretary of the rural mis
sions cooperating committee, strong
ly endorsed this type of training
while visiting the college here re
cently. He said that the rural min
istry needs more trained young men
who have both the background and
knowledge of the problems of rural
life, and the training necessary to
help solve these, problems in ac
cordance with ethical standards.
The pre-theological curriculum in
volves no new courses but it does
make possible an arrangement by
which students may fulfill require
ments for a degree in agriculture at
the same time they get a wide se
lection of courses in economics, Eng
lish, literature, philosophy, speech,
history, government and psychology.
